Anna-Lisa, how recent was the service? There should be a guarantee on the service, at least for 90 days, possibly 180 or even a year. Certainly it's worth telling your service person about your problem and see if he will help you for a discounted cost if not free. rick :)=

Hi, Recently had my Nikkormat FT 50mm Camera serviced. Was given to me second hand and I had never used it and wanted to make sure it was working well before running film through it. (no problems diagnosed just cleaned and replaced rubber seals) Since I have had it serviced I have run through two films. First one no problems. Second one on the last shot the camera sort of froze up on me, wouldnt allow me to advance the film. I figured this was just because I was using the last shot on the roll so I pressed the film release button rewound my film and got it developed (no problems). Now when coming to load a new film into the camera I have discovered that the shutter button no longer works(can not press it) the film advance lever moves but is loose (no tension) and the film release button is just loose as though not connected to anything. Help! what has happened and why? Anyone have any ideas on cost of repair for such a thing? I am in Australia so if giving a cost idea please include which currency you are referring to. Thanks heaps for your help :)

I have a Nikkormat EL and I'm looking for a zoom lens that's up to 300, I've found a Tamron SP Macro (62) that requires Adaptall, does that mean that I have to buy something else before I can attach it to my camera? Also, there is a Nikon lens AIS (62) lens that I was looking at, does anyone know if that would fit? please email, or comment my website!

I purchased a Nikkormat FTn back in November 2004 at a camera show here in Toronto for $99 CDN and after getting the seals replaced and finding a Nikkor 50 F1.4 lens I find I am taking the best pictures out of all my cameras and to date I have been a Canon person. I picked up the FTn because my brother and dad both own camera and have been very happy with them. Bill

Hi Bill: You might be able to find the screw for the case at a camera store, I think this is just a standard 1/4-20 thumb screw. If you don't have a camera store nearby (they're getting rarer and rarer), try www.porters.com. The viewfinder eyepiece ring will be harder. You might get lucky on eBay, or you might even buy a body to get the ring and then resell the body and get your money back that way. There is no such thing as a winder for any Nikkormat, they were not designed to accept one. rick :)=

I have owned a Nikkormat Ft since it was new and need a couple seemingly minor parts. I have looked to no avail. I lost the thumb screw which holds the case in place on the camera body and the threaded viewfinder/flash shoe retainer ring. I would also like to locate a auto winder for the camera. Any help would be appreciated. Bill

Hi Doug: I have never tried it, but I would assume that a screen from a Nikon F would NOT fit in a Nikkormat. I don't know of a Type E (cross grid) screen being made for the Nikkormat; even if it was, one would be a rarity to find today. I have scribed a cross grid onto a microprism screen, but it requires extreme care: you're working with the naked eye but will be looking at the results under high magnification. The slightest slip will be remembered forever (yes, there is one on the screen I did) rick :)=

I'm working on restoring my father's Nikkormat FTN which has a broken mirror box. I've located a new mirror box assembly and I've realized that in the course of repairs I'll have access to the viewscreen. I'd like to put an E type screen in this camera. Does anyone know what screen will fit? i.e., will an E screen for the F/F2, removed from its frame, fit the Nikkormat?

Hi Patti: You're in luck, batteries for the FT3 are easy to find. The silver cell that fits the FT3 is called by various names: S76, SR44, 675S and 357 are all names for essentially the same battery. Note that this size is also available in alkaline and other chemistry types, so check the package to make sure it says "silver" or "silver oxide" cell.
