I have just acquired a Nikkormat FT2 in good condition. It is working perfectly and the meter seems to be accurate. My problem is that I can't remove the cover from the battery compartment in the base. The cover turns about 30 degrees with a coin but will not come off. I can see no sign of damage. Has anyone else had this problem? John McLoughlin2. From : David (dp24dp24@yahoo.com)

I have a Nikon FT3 that has been working fine for years. Recently, the meter stopped working. Changing batteries didn't help. When the film advance level is open, I can get the meter to move from + to - regardless of light conditions by moving the shutter speed from 8 to 15 but that is all. I love this camera but I am not a good enough photographer to use without the meter. Any help or advice is appreciated. David3. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi gary: I don't have one here, but I think the screws in teh falsh shoe come up from below. To check & make sure, take a small screwdrive and lift up the front edge of the little silver trim piece in the bottom of the hot shoe, and slide it off to the rear. If you see screw heads under it, tighten them; if you just see the ends of screws (or worse, an open hole where a screw used to be), then the top cover will have to come off the camera to reach the screws. If you want to fix this yourself, I have a sketch for removing the top cover, which I can send you if you'd like to email me for it. rick :)=4. From : Gary Silk (gary.silk@verizon.net)

I have just acquired a Nikkormat FT2 with a 50mm lense. It is in mint condition and I don't think it has ever been used (used used very little.) It is the black and chrome body and has its original case. Does anyone have any idea what the market value would be on this camera? Thanks, Bryan7. From : David Mann (dm@simonsgroup.com)

I have just aqcuired a Nikkormat EL and wish to use it for astrophotography. I understand that it uses an electronic shutter speed adjustment and would like to know, If I use the camera on teh B setting for lengthy timed exposures will this drain the battery or not?? Many thanks Dave8. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Tom: It sounds like your EL has power everywhere but to the meter movement in the finder. Perhaps a wire has come off, or (worse) the connection may be lost within the meter movement. In any case, you still have your auto and manual speeds, and a handheld meter can be found cheaply if you can't get the camera meter working..... rick :)=9. From : Tom Walker (trucker1070@aol.com)

I recently bought an Olympus camera and the guy gave me an old EL. I put a fresh battery in it and everything seems to work except the light meter in man. In auto the meter is off the top of the scale but I ve taken a roll of film in various lighting situations and they come out fine, but the needle stays burried at the top of the scale in auto or manual. Any suggestions? I can use it in auto , but I occasionally like to do some odd stuff that requires the camera to do what I want instead of what the AE wants.10.
