Hi,
I just bought a Nikon ft2 a few weeks back, I did not really get to play with it until recently when i went out and bought the film for the camera. The problem is that everytime I take a picture the DOV always shows up, is it poor lighting in my house or do I have to disable it?2. From : Rick Oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Howard:
In general, Nikkormats are probably worth from $50 to $100 these days. As for the specific model, I don't know of an F. There was an FT, an FTn, FT2 and FT3 in the original mechanical series (plus an FS with no light meter, which is rather rare), and EL and ELW with electronic shutters and automatic exposure control. The FT3 and EL/ELW are probably going to bring the highest prices (these may get up over $100), and the FT the lowest.3. From : Howard Swift (glinesbc@aol.com)

i own a nikkormat el. i purchased the camera during 1975 or the beginning of 1976. the case is missing. and so are the instructions. i haven't used the camera in perhaps two decades and i have forgotten how to use it. i also, beside the standard lense have a telephoto and a wide angle lense. i would to use the camera again but i need instructions. any advice on obtaining them.
thanks, audrey goldberg6. From : Rick Oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Corbin:
One possible cause that comes to mind is a stuck self timer: once the self timer is cocked, the shutter won't release until it runs down. A self timer, like the slow speeds of a shutter, has an escapement gear system in it which can get sticky with age and dirt... the difference is, if the slow speeds stick, you just avoid using the slow speeds, but if the self timer sticks you can't use the shutter at all.
The best solution would be to take it to a repair shop. I'm reluctant to discuss Plan B on a public forum, but if a shop is out of the question drop me an email... there may be a chance of getting it to run.
The difference between an FT2 and an FT3, by the way, is the lens coupling: the FT2 has a metal pin that engages the fork on the aperture ring of the lens to couple the light meter.... the FT3 has no pin, but it has a rotating ring around the lens mount with a tab that sticks forward to engage a notch in the rear edge of the aperture ring on the lens. The FT3 needs AI or later lenses, the FT2 can use any lens.7. From : Corbin (brokenflame64@yahoo.com)

I recently found an FT2/FT3 (I can't tell which it is) in my attic. From what I understand, the only problems are that the seal needs replaced (it lets light in and exposes the film), and the shutter is stuck. It also seems the timer is stuck on the fully on position, and the advancement lever won't move very far before it flat out stops. The camera is cocked, but it won't fire. Any idea on how to fix this?8. From : andrew (dinher_time@hotmail.com)

i have a nikomat el but the lens on it is the wrong lens I believe and it won't come off. the aperature ring doesn't fully rotate to it's full aperature size. Is there a way to take off the lens?
