Cannot advance the film? I had the same problem. My advance level stopped working consistently. I permantly added an MD-11. It worked much faster than I do!!

I was very impressed with information about Nikkormat Ftn. I have this camera more than 30 years and recently tried to use it and noticed the light meter is not working. The battery is ok.Is there any way to fix this. The other question is if we can use the lenses of these camera for digital one. Thank you and best regards, Medi4. Hi Deepak: The lens would not cause the meter to be non-responsive. You might have a corroded or broken power wire from the battery box; it would be best to have this looked at by a repair service. I'm not familiar with a 58mm Soligor lens; if it fits on the camera and has the "fork" for the meter coupling pin, it should be compatible with your camera.5. I just bought a ft2 with a soligor 58mm lens. The light meter was not responsive so put a new 1.5V PX76 battery in it. The light meter is still not responsive. I have never used a ft2 before. Is this lens incompatible with the camera6. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Harry: It's not quite this simple, but the short answer would be no, not without modification. I'm not very familiar with the Nikon digital SLRs, but there are a couple of potential problems: first, at least some of them use electronic chips in the lens to transfer data to the body, which of course your lenses do not have. If there are any that will work with manual focus lenses lacking the chips (I'm not sure whether there are any digitals that can do that or not), you would still have the requirement that the lenses at least be AI series or later to couple to the meter. The only Nikkormat that used AI lenses was the FT3, so if you have an FT, FTN or FT2 your lenses would at the very least need an AI conversion and likely also a chip implant to work properly on the new camera. The cost of this would exceed the value of the lenses unless you have something pretty special there. rick :)=7. From : Harry Peretz (harripp@excite.com)

I have just purchased a Nikkormat EL. I have placed a new battery in it which was working fine. However, the light metre is now refusing to respond after taking only two shots. I have tested the battery in a second EL and it is still working fine. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks Chris9. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Doc: I'd say this would be a light seal problem; light coming through a Nikkormat shutter (an extremely rare occurrence) is more likely to cause a horizontal streak than a vertical one. Look at your negatives, though: if the light leak extends into the area of the sprocket holes, it can't be coming from the front through the shutter opening. At the link above, there is a list of sources for useful stuff - one of which is light seal kits. This is something you can do yourself. rick :)=10.
