Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.

-Jimmy Lee- 4-Faced Buddha's real name is actually Brahma Sahampati. He is the king of the Brahma heavens ie a Maha Brahma. He first attended on the Buddha during Buddha's human birth as prince Siddharta along with Lord Indra. He also attended on Buddha when He first attained enlightenment and requested that the Buddha teach the Dhamma to all sentient beings. WE HAVE A LOT TO THANK HIM FOR. These devas (gods) are truly very highly achieved devas and are innumerable. They also abide in heavens which are Formless, depending on their progression on the Jhanas levels (meditative absorption). I don't feel there's any truth at all at the fact that it is inappropriate for women to wear Brahma amulets. His four heads represents the Four Great Virtues of Metta, Karuna, Mudita & Upekkha which are know as the Brahma viharas (abidings), see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahmavihara. These four virtues have to be 'perfected' before one can gain rebirth in a Brahma heaven. The Brahma you referred to which has something to do with a female is the Brahma mentioned in the Vedas (Hinduism) and his creation Gayatri. I'm not really sure but I think his name is Baka Brahma. Even he has been converted to Buddhism by the Buddha.
All Brahmas are protectors of Buddhism, whichever level they are on. Some don't even have to reincarnate any more ie they attain arhatship (become a lou-han) in their respective heaven ie like the Brahmas in the Suddhavassa heavens. Always remember that they are always absolutely unbias, impartial, ever compassionate & wise towards ALL sentient beings and that there is no greater love in our realm than a mother's love. 我倒听说几个泰国好朋友四面佛有点难配带。基础上保平安与它四面的代表意义就行， 但别问多多超于他包含的能力。 传说有问的过份的事超越它能给于的如能成事你就得换与还愿， 就好像你达成目标没还愿， 就的拿你一样对数换回来般的意义，它本身是幽灵化身， 帮人无数被立为佛但本性还带作旧的幽灵本性 泰人翻译有称Phra Phrom Budda 俗称四面佛 一面是拿密达Na Metta 保平安； Mo Ka Nu Na 一面是莫卡努哪代表财运，O-Bek_Kar是代表智慧， Mu-Ti-Tar音像目的达代表人与人缘间美好的关系。四面佛最出名的是Erawan酒店路口所在的那一尊著名的四面佛像。女人不能配带泰国四面佛牌是没确实根据的， 但你我倒知女人问题多多， 尤其是当感情上出问题时就更多事。 一般上， 除了刚才所说的可能性或“解放”超越四面佛本身能力与事后应该处理的后遗事项， 配带这泰国佛牌该没啥大事可顾虑。1073. Hi I recently bought a 4 faced Buddha pendant, one for a guy and one for a girl. BUt I heard from a friend that girls are not suitable for wearing 4 faced Buddha pendants. Supposedly this has to do with one of the face representing lust or sumthing like that. May i know if there is any truth or any story behind such a belief??

Hi, I recently bought 2 pendants of the 4-faced Buddha in Bangkok, one for a guy and one for a girl. But I was told by a friend that the 4-faced Buddha pendant is not supposed to be worn by a gal. Supposedly one side of the face has something to do with lust and is not appropriate for women. I dun quite believe this as if this is the case why are there jewellers all over Bangkok who sell 4-faced Buddha pendants to be worn by women??

By the way, thanks Brother Ray. I have learnt something from your explanation on Toh's background as well. But the suggested sites you mentioned are like a forum with a mix of rojak topics. Hard to navigate (strictly speaking, I would rather prefer to be here at mir.com). The Mandarin postings are not heavy either since we last argue over the MB and I think it is acceptable by most of us. However, the opinion expressed is strictly from a personal perspective where I encourage more Buddhist forums to go to the Network the better. Jeff:- To be fair. It is not an easy task to create content for temples. However, Leonard has also been doing his best. I have seen his new works (preview) on three featured temples in Penang where he took the trouble to shoot some pictures on his recent visit. He told me he will leave the content to some of our Penang guru friends (SThong, Rocky and Tony) to help before it can be published. So, just be patience. Last, Leonard told me he is not familair with Singapore and the task should be handled by the brothers from Singapore. I think that is a good idea too, Singpaore Kaki in this hobby is very active on web forum, why not create a site for us to share and they can be acted as a guide when we go to Singapore, huh ?1078. Welcome to the board. Don't worry over the year of produce, yours is a good image. Phra Kring is sometimes referred as "Lion in Jade" (In strict translation from Chinese). It is very good for health and protection of the owner without too much of wearing restriction. The cracked casing is just a plastic and it can be easily replaced. The one issue is how to get the measurement right for the shop to make it fit (Esp. via a web medium). I am not sure where are you residing, if you are in Thailand, it can be easily get a replacement unit within hours on water resistance casing. There are many interpretation of whether would an amulet be cased (or simply wear without the protective casing. I am using some that are without (esp. those difficult to be cased or too expensive to do so). However, it doesn't mean a crack of a plastic will do damage or "Chasing the Buddha" away from you. If you are not in Thailand right now, a good way is to find someone that you can trust upon to case for you OR send you a replacement unit that comes WITHOUT water resistance feature (Prior to do that, the technician requires some process to make it work). Well, speaking on who you can trust, I think Purt from Thaiamulet.com is a frequent visitor here and he is full-time in the trade of amulets. (At least you still can let us know over his services and blast him if something is wrong, haha..just joking). Brother Purt, it is not usual for find an foreigner to use a Buddha image and this should be encouraged, you should led him a hand to help or at least guide him what to do next. THANK YOU.1079. HI, I have been searching the web for information on this Thai Phra Kring that was given to me by a Theravadan Monk. He said it was made sometime around the beginning of World War 2 and it has what appears to be a marking on the back.
