Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook

Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.

As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. A couple of Wats to visit around Ayuthaya.
1. Wat Sakae (LP Doo - died 2533) - roughly 20 minutes on a bycicle from the historical centre.
2. Wat Takoh (LP Louey - still alive!!) - by train (15 min, 5B) to Nong Kuai, then 20 min walk. Ask for the direction, everyone knows...
Both gurus are known for their amulets (very popular among the local people are their rings).

May I make a suggestion to the person who wish to have this article "Tibetan Book of the Dead (summarised version)" posted on this Message Board. Because this article is rather lenghty (14 pages, 756 lines, 10, 693 words), could you instead provide a link to your article. Thank you

2550th Buddha Jayanti Celebration in the year 2006 The year 2006 will be celebrated as the 2550th Buddha Jayanti. In the year 1956 too the Govt. of India under the leadership of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru celebrated the 2500th Buddha Jayanti which is still itched in the memory of one and all who participated here especially to H.H. the Dalai Lama who had come here all the way from Tibet which still finds mention in his reminiscences of Buddhagaya.

We are sure something grand should be organized as we can expect 10 times more people would be participating as what did in the year 1956. The main function can and should be organized at Buddhagaya – the place where the Buddha attained Enlightenment and which holds an exalted place to the Buddhists of the world who have an unflinching emotional attachment with this place.

The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee would organise 3 days of grand celebrations starting on the Full Moon Day of May (Vaisakh Purnima / Vesak / Visaka Puja) and will continue for two days. A programme schedule could be arranged as follows:-

Day one (13th May 2006, Saturday) : (a) Inauguration of the Buddha Jayanti Celebrations by the Hon’ble President/ Prime Minister (b)Buddha Puja (c) International Seminar on Buddhism (d) Laying of Foundation stone for International Buddhist Cultural Centre and Shilpa Grama (e) Exposition of the sacred Relics of Lord Buddha for three days (f) Sanghadana (g) Food for all visitors (h) Cultural Programme Day Two (14th May 2006, Sunday) : (a) Art and Painting Exhibition (b) Distribution of Fruits and Medicines in various Hospitals for Patients (c) Sanghadana (d) Food for all the people visiting Bodhgaya (e Lantern Festival (f) Cultural Programme Day Three (15th May 2006, Monday) : (a) Free Mobile Health Camp (b) All Religious Peace Prayer (c Sanghadana (d) Quiz, Essay, Speech and painting Competition for School children (e) Int’l Food festival (f) Food for all visitors (g) Tree plantation (h) Cultural Programme

Cultural Centre : The Mahabodhi Mahavihara was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on 27th June 2002 and since then many developmental plans have taken place. Bodhgaya is fast becoming a destination for visiting not only by the pilgrims but also for visitors coming from all over the globe. We need to put international standard infrastructure in place without compromising on the aesthetic value and heritage importance of the place. Bodhgaya today requires a cultural complex with an auditorium of 1000 seating capacity with all modern features in it with conference facilities and interpretation centre and a small 10-15 room guest house for troupes and scholars. It would also house an interactive Buddhist institute where Buddhist culture from all over the world could be studied and researched which would serve as a catalyst for a synergetic relationship between individuals and institutions working in the field of Buddhism.

Magazine : The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee publishes a magazine PRAJNA and we could publish a special volume with topics concerning all aspects of Buddhism. Seminar : An international seminar on Buddhism can be organized which would throw more focus on present day Buddhism and its future potential. Exhibition : With this we can exhibit the best of the art world to the people under a single roof and explain the common traits of Buddhist civilization. Lantern Festival : Lantern making and light offering are an important aspect of merit making in Buddhism. Beautiful lantern made of paper are attractive to look at and when in a procession it is dazzling. These lanterns will be brought to the Main Temple and hung all around in the evening. Exposition of Sacred Relics : This is one event which will throw the whole spot-light on the entire celebrations. People would simply visit Bodhgaya for a glimpse of it and pay their respects and venerations which for all would be a life-time experience. Sanghadana : It is an important aspect of Buddhism as offering to the monks/sangha is a merit making field. Ven’ble monks coming from all over would be offered food and other offerings. Town Beautification & Lighting : The entire township of Bodhgaya has to be beautified, cleaned, decorated with flags, festoons and lighting giving it a festive look. Food Festival : An international food festival can be held for visitors who would experience the tastes of various countries and cultures during their stay here for the celebrations. All Religious Peace Prayer : This could be organized to bring together all the religious heads under the sacred Bodhi Tree and talk and pray for peace in this chaotic ridden world of the present moment where people are in search of peace all around. What better place could it be than the sacred Bodhi Tree under which the Buddha found out the source of peace and tranquillity. Cultural Programme : A three day cultural programmed will be organized with artists coming from not only the different states of India but artists from other Buddhist countries showing their rich and varied cultural heritage.
