Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook

Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.

Come to think of it, The "Potpourri" section is very useful, Can I suggest all members if you have the free time to compile "universal" names for amulets and Monks ? Just key in your thought and since there is no "standard" yet, I think it is good for all to use standard pronunciation. If not, even Google ot Yahoo won't able to find the right search results. Agree ?

On your web page http://www.mir.com.my/leofoo/Thai-amulets/Wat-Suthat/index.htm I am looking at the top picture of the temple. I am wondering if there is a name for that slender golden bird-like icon that adorns the peak of each roof section. When I visited Thailand I recall hearing something like "guaradji", but I've probably got that all mixed up with something else. Help.

Here is another amulet image form (Jhok Khun Phun) which looks alike Khun Paen in red clay:

I like both of them. Uncle Wi's image is of more traditional/classic form.

Thanks lenny, I hope to find more info regarding the various series of jhok khun phun produced so far. And most importantly, the ways to verify a jhok khun phun. Thanks.

I did a search on the message board, Mr. YKT used to explained this "... Question on "jkok Kun Poon":- It is good that you asked. Jhok Khun Phun is a highly respectable admiral in old Siamese era. Khun Paen was at his best on land, Jhok Khun Phu was commanding at the sea. Both were great warriors of old Siam period. Jhok Khun Phun images or amulets are very difficult to find, most Thai have the larger images to serve protecting the home, office or property (some business tycoons in Bangkok installed it along with others on structures/properties like buildings, shopping complexes, factories etc.). Amulets of Jhok Khun Phun in smaller, portable/werable is even harder to find and equally pricey. I think Uncle Wichian images are a produce by a temple (wat Kaw-Or) in Phattalung, the circular/oval shape in black) at http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/leofoo/Thai-amulets/Wichien/indexPALda.htm http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/leofoo/Thai-amulets/Wichien/images/unlceLeavefrontABIG.jpg If some of you have been to Pattaya, the statue (at the hill top) guarding the Gulf of Siam that local often worships is him. This legandary icon is very very well respected by Thai (esp. those who makes living near or from the sea), even tday. - Y.K.T. ...."
