Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook

Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.

As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. To Buddhist, Buddha relic serves to prove enlightenment exists. Some famous relics like the original relics of Buddha Sacred Relic of the tooth of the Buddha in Sri Lanka, recent Relic (finger-shaped) showcased in H.K. from Xian, China. Many temples in Thailand claimed to have relics in their Stupa but I think they are more of Vihann rather than Buddha relic.

Here are some views of Relic compiled by some enthusiasts for your readings.

Dont worry, L. We can help if we find where we can fit into yours. But as Kam Thong has suggested, try creating a new or original topic as the scope for discussing Buddhism is wide.

UPDATE:- By the way, I had a talk with Miss Amy (when she called for help to create a site on their project over the temple that requires help in Chiangmai. Err ..Found out later she is actually a friend of mine). I have presented our collective opinion (which includes the similar issue faced by local temples). She agreed with our views now and will discuss with other girls (ladies) in deciding what to do next.

Dear L: starting a new yahoo group on Amulets collecting is a good idea. But seemingly it will be another replication of here unless you have issues or something that is different which is missing here in this site. First, why DON consolidate all effort into one here (for amulets and locations of Buddhist interest) and make it BETTER ? I have talked to leo (kakaman); you are most welcome to be a co-moderator of this board if you like to. Personally, I can join any new forum (provided it has the right content and embodies a true spirit in the course of site building, minus the hassle of registration, enter username, password etc.). Lastly, I am here because I think so far, all the works done here are pretty good for some of us to lend a hand to him to progress further in content building. I know leo only via this site forum, monitoring what he has been doing in this site; over the two years' period, I am quite comfortable with what he has done so far and that is why I am still here. But that doesn't mean I can't help other developers as long as it has a vacumn which fits my role. Cheers.

Hi,I am just curious about something. I was told that monks do not carry or handle cash. The question is that I am going to Thailand next summer and I am wondering how I can donate or offer when I visit temples or encounter monks.Any input would be appreciated.

I have to say this is such a great site... I was lucky to come across this website first. It is not commercial and I enjoy the writing of the creator very much. His journey in Chiang Mai and his friendships with others are warm and heartening. The information on the temples are fantastic either. Not to mention the high quality of the photos. I visited this site a few weeks ago but this week I just realised there were other sections like statues, travels, temples etc. And thanks to everyone in this board to make this possible.

I am starting a yahoo group at Thai_Buddhist_Amulets@yahoogroups.com

The aim is to have a Buddhist perspective on amulets and non commercial. I am doing this as a trial and see if we can use the four noble truths and 8 paths combined with the meanings of wearing an amulet. This group is also into meditation, Buddhism and Buddhist texts. I hope to get my friends who study Pali or Sanskrit to join in the future. May I kindly ask this board's moderators to join as moderators in the yahoo group if you have time?.... I am the only member so there is not a lot of work... I have great respect for the moderators here. It would be such an honour to have people like Hoon Hoon, Uncle Wang, Raymond etc in the group. (Sorry if I miss any name). I'll try my best to prevent spams as well. so membership approval is required. Please forgive me that this group is still empty. I'll try to find more links on Buddhism or amulets in this site. I hope I can learn from all of you.

I don't have email address of people and I wonder if he would allow me to add his website to the group's links. Please delete this post if it is not appropriate for me to post something like this. L

Thanks for the kind words, Kelvin. I did what you have suggested. Yes. I am just toying with the idea of creating another new site featuring the few Ipoh Cave Buddhist Temples (the scratchy introductory page is listed above). The site is still at its early stage of materials compilation (please dont wait or ask for their progress from now on). I will do it when I had enough of good content ready (& time) before I begin. If anyone of you can offer some help, it might just speeeeeeed up the process of site construction, hehe ...

Once again, Thanks for the lead/advice on whereabout and usage guide of those old pictures, Kelvin. Regards, kakaman.

Your site is truly GREAT ! You should put up a recommendation to our forum members who may be interested in Buddhist amulets collecting (I will too). Personally, I know MIR photosite very very well (simply one of the greatest references you can find on the Internet today on all those manual focus classic SLR cameras). But I am not awared of a Buddhist site hidden in here. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Sir, I saw your request which asked for old pictures of cave temples in Ipoh for your proposed new website. You may find a series of them at http://forums.perak.org/cn/read-htm-tid-51-fpage-1-toread--page-1.html I hope they are useful for your coming project. But I suggest you put up a post to ask for permission before using them as I am not sure where are they from (probably they are scanned works from old books/magazines). Hope this info helps.
