Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook
Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.
As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. Hi YKT, It is important that correct information should be shared freely and existing forums should work together to provide these information from trustworthy sources. Many copycat forums pop up with commercial motives or even because of personal ego, causing a discrepancy in many information being shared to impressionable newbies. We hope to clear as much misconceptions as we can so that this hobby remains a happy one. :) With Metta, SMokE1522. From : YKT (firstname.lastname@example.org)

Hi all, I have been directed to this site and I have read through some of the postings in here. With regards to my current forum, as requested by Mr David Lim, here's a brief history:
SMokE's Thai Amulets Forum was initially created in Delphi Forums on September 1999 when I was 20. It was meant as a platform to gather like-minded Buddhists in Singapore who are interested in Thai amulets to discuss and further share knowledge. At that point of time, the Internet was at its peak and I was quite disappointed that information on Thai amulets was very limited then. When my website was created, this forum was also created for people who signed my guestbook, giving them a new space to post. The regulars include Singaporeans, Malaysians, Hongkies, Taiwanese, Australians, Indonesians and many more. As years goes by, the regular members have increased steadily and more information was being shared. Many copycat forums have also started to spring up due to the success of the 1st original SMokE's Thai Aamulets Forum based in Singapore. However, as the problem with many commercially available public forums, troublemakers and flamers were inevitable and upon the closure of the original forum in Delphi Forums, we have successfully migrated to www.amulets.sg with the help and support from all the regulars.
Some of the advantages of self-hosting my public forum includes: Better management of abuse and complaints through full I.P. address control Customisation of personal profile Ability to expand the forum limitations Real e-mail addresses have to be submitted for registration, eradicating the possibility of multiple nicknames Personal message system to be used for sending messages to one another Most importantly, this is a self-funding forum with absolutely NO COMMERCIAL VALUE. We are not canvassing for members nor are we asking for any form of contribution. What we NEED is your suggestions for improvement on how to make the site better and more informative. With regards to a posting by Apollo, I am glad he see the picture. As collectors of these religious objects, we see people from all walks of life, from millionaires to jailbirds, from young to old. Why there are non-amulets related topics is due to providing a one-stop solution to other types of chat. There is a need to clarify that OPEN forum does not equate to abuse of free speech, i.e. libel, criminal threats, pornography, vice, illegal gambling are strictly disallowed and we maintain the forum via the appointment of moderators. Enough said, I guess it will be better if you take a look and judge for yourself. I will be awaiting your comments and suggetions. :) With Metta, SMokE1524. Dear Mr.David Lim, I've joined the forum in question with my second post (question to the host)
"One simple question to the host. Are we here to discuss about amulets as a collector or amulets collector as a Buddhism? The thread here seems to range from 4D to booze and may soon sex@geylang which are one way or another against the teaching"
Replied from the host:- "The reason why this site is segregated in many different folders is self-explanatory. If people are really offended by other topics, they may choose not to view the other sections and just concentrate on what they like to post. This is just a self-administrated forum for the public by the public"
I agreed with some of the poster and disgreed with most, but then I agreed very much with the host replied. The world of internet is that WE choose what we want to read.1525. From : Purt (email@example.com)

We have 350+ members from all over the places and thousands of postings. ENOUGH to excite anyone of you to learn something more relating to the art of amulet collecting. We are not begging for more people to join our forum, if you want to know more about the site, just refer to the FAQ section - why bothers giving introduction here again ? It doesn't take a minute to understand how it works.1529. From : David Lim (email@example.com)

KekWei (?): are you the moderator for the forum ? I guess it says membership requires (sorry if the site has projected such an impression). Anyway, I think it is good for the forum creator to explain to us how it works before we can even consider should be enroll ourselves as members as required in the terms.
The posting is liked an invitation or recommendation (so, I would think you are already a member and knows how it works), but it is also good to provide a formal introduction by the forum creator. Hope this opinion helps.1530.
