Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook |
Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. IF wearing an amulet is for this kind of purpose, I would think it doesn't serve the real purpose lah... brother. OI know many traders always use this kind of tactics to close some sales but persoanlly I would think if your mind is filled with this kind of intention then, it difies the basic spirit of being a buddhist too. Khun Paen has long been assoticated with improving inter-human relationship (so, some would think it can "cross" over to attract the opposite sexz). But as long as you are sincere things will come naturally, but if it is the sole purpose to wear a khun paen to attract women, then - memang susah lah ...1473. From : Ben (hotheadedguy@hotmail.com)

Site progress update: 06.12.2005 I have prepared another photo journal site on a local Thai temple locates in Kuala Lumpur (Next project will be Wat Mekprasit in Ipoh). As I have to return to Cambodia tomorrow, it is made in a rush, the write-up is a little weak as I have forgotten to ask the details of the few images inside the temple (mind set is weak..). Anyway, I will see if I can provide more input when I get back next week. So just treat it as a soft visual introduction. the URL is: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/leofoo/Thai-amulets/Wat-MehLiew/index.htm For future re-visits, the link is provided in the Listings Section of Local Thai Temple. Enjoy.1477. From : Anthony Koh (noreply@willbounce.com)

Hi Mike, according a Thai that told me this, it is auspicious to place the buddha/monk statues facing the North, North-East or East whereas one should avoid placing the buddha statue facing South and West. At home, I am fortunate enough to have my front door facing east which is where my family altar is placed - just for convenience sake.
Please note that this is a Thai belief. If I am not wrong the Buddha discouraged us to place to much unneccesary believe on superstition. So, even if you place your altar facing south/west, and as long as it gives you a peace of mind, I don't think the Buddha will punish you for facing him west or south :)

Yes a god write upp Leofoo but it sounds so hard when you say buissnes related web page(just kidding)Here is a breafe story behinde my web page. One way to spread Buddhism is to provide people whit Buddhist statues and amulets. Here in europe (Sweden) people are waking upp(my own oppinion)I get questions about my items so i gladly provide them whit all facts about the item and the ground teatching off Buddhism(as i see it).The items i find from auktions privat homes and from my travels i keep home beucase i allways say this item i whill never sell(i have sayd that 1000 times) then i take pictures off the items and put them in my web page beucase i realise that i am just keeping it for just a small time and as i see it you take care off a beutyful item for a period then it has to go away to spread happines some where else.My biggest problem is that i am not a god buissnes man the items i sell usuly dont give me any profits and if i get any profits i invest the profits and litle more than that on a orpan house in Thailand(the litle duck) but thats not why i do this i realy have a genuine happy feeling when i travel and try to find items.Thats the trill for me to find the pefect items and to meet people round the world. My main buissnes is to work whit chimenyes and fire places thats where i make the money for my expensive hobby. You came naked and you go naked but hopefuly you made a small positiv differens for man kind.In my daily life i try to spread the teatching of Buddha to my fellow brothers and sisters. And hopefuly it gives them some thing positiv to think about.Best Morgan ps:Before buying any items on the internet please ask them to take cleare pic in different angles and in god light and have basic nolage of the item you are buying.
