Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook |
Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.

Reading through the past messages and sections, the "Uncle Lim" section caught my attention, and I noticed some "marketing" has already been done on his behalf. I believe some issues have to be addressed in order for people not be misled in the future, especially new collectors. I will try to be as impartial and fair in my review. If one intends to get newly made amulets from Uncle Lim, he has many pieces from many famous temples and are affordable and cheap. But, if you intend to get old amulets from Uncle Lim, you better make sure you know how to verify the amulets yourself because I have also seen two Chao Khun Nor pieces that are of dubious origins in his special collection. From what I understand in my dealings with him, Uncle Lim's knowledge is largely limited to LP Pae's amulets. Also don't get caught up by sales talk and pressure to buy, after all, amulet traders are business people. I believe this messageboard was set up with the very good intention of sharing knowledge amongst enthusiasts. Like every collector, I too was once a "newbie" and have had my fair share of frustrations and joy in this hobby. Hence, kudos to the webmaster and all contributors for building up this website.2002. i love the thai amulets , and that may sound strange coming from a canadian living in hong kong . i have quite a few pieces , all verified as originals passed on to me by my friend in thailand who has hundreds in his collection . my problem is i dont know who they all are , and would like to have someone tell me who the representations are of . i have taken front and back pictures. i also have several king 5s as well - 5 to be exact . i also where a silver lp thuad that never will come off my neck other than when i took the photo of it i also read the section about buying the amulets - i whole heartedly agree that they arent an investment - they are something to be treasured and respected , both for the beauty and the meanings behind them2004. Missed this site via a search on keyword "soomdet", but it was listed under name of "soomdej". I am very impressed by the collection of the images (best of all, there are no pop up commercial windows nor asking for member's registration IDs). I agreed with the quote of the gentleman earlier, there are not many of these kind of sites around on the Internet today and hope this *rare culture should be preserved. By the way, the few showcased "kes-chai-yo" images are indeed very beautiful but I noticed that diamond-clustered Luang Phor Negrn is absolutely fantastic ! Lastly, thanks for the time and effort to enable all these to be shared. Have a good day. Regards, Tim from HK.2006. From : Red-Hibiscus (rachelcheeMAS@hotmail.com)

The site right now is excellent. Although as the earlier posting has suggested is also a good idea but personally I'd rather see it maintains as it is (as a non-commercial site). But I have a suggestion as well, I notice you have developed a Free Trade Zone on photographic equipment (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/ftz/index.php3) I hope you can consider something like that and add a image thumbnail if someone wishes to sell, buy or trade. I know it can be very tedious to keep track (big storage as well) for all furute postings but it can solves some surfers desire to have something like this nature to share their possessions. Thank you.2009. From : N.B.T. (noname@noemail.com)

Wouldn't it be nice if all the amulet owners who wishes to sell theirs put an indication of a price tag that tabs along the individual showcased unit here ... I know many of them are very rare collectibles but at least I can think if any of the units are within my budget.. Thanks.2010. From : Y. K. Page 5 of the Soomdej section:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/leofoo/Thai-amulets/Wichien/Soomdej/index4.htm and I think it is the same with the one shown at "Mdm Wanne" section at (looks like it comes with a new gold casing) you can compare the two and see they looked very alike, unless she has two units:
