Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook

Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Hi, I happen to come across your website and found the amulet that you have posted under the following comments:

"Uncle Wichien has given me two amulets with Phra Soomkor thus far, and on both occasions, I gave them away to my elder brother haha ..."

It suddenly striked me that I have seem to have something similar given to me about 6 to 7 years back by a monk. I kept it aside without considering much. The color of my amulet is however black in color but other than that everything looks almost identical. Except the logo on the back of my amulet seems abit blur as compared to the one that you have posted. I am wondering whether are there much fake ones of this kind floating in the market. To me, it seems more like handmade ones. I searched through other websites for Phra Soomkor but I can't find anyone similar to those who own. Anyway, I am very amatuer in this collection though I may have spent quite a bit acquiring the experience. Hope you can enlighten me and if need be I may like to post a picture of mine to you for verification. By the way, what is the market value of this amulet. Cheers, Steven

Changing a new php3 codes on the new web server, some data lost occured (partly some guys are attempting using external codes to attack the message board system and causing the database behaves strangely, will sort this out with my friend mr. YEAK tonight and tomorrow). Sorry. Anyway, site progress update 05.12.2006 I have added some additional info on the amulet casing as well as Soomdej pages. Besides, I went to Wat IN, BangKhunPhrom last week, will create a visual site later when I am free. Similarly, Weerapong has sent me a series of old, classic, top class Phra ROD images from northern Thailand, I will add to the amulet-mold section as well later. Thanks all. P.S. will be leaving for Bangkok next two days for business meeting, tiring...

Hi Jimmy & Albert,

I was told many years ago that if you chant the Jinnapanjara Katha (Chinnabanchorn) you need not worry about getting LP Toh's amulets. They would come naturally to you. I told Albert the same story. I have been chanting the Jinnapanjara katha for more than 12 years now and looking back it might have some truth in this.

In my small collection, i have accumulated several pieces related to or made by LP Toh. These include 2 Phra Somdej Keschaiyo given to me 12 years ago by the Chief Monk of Wat Kes, 2 Phra Somdej Wat Kudee Thong given by a friend, 2 Long Phor Toh amulet (Long Phor Toh in a bell and the LP Toh Lun Wantha Simaa) some Phra Somdej WRK (Batch 100 years and Sao Ha Auspicious 5). I am proud to say that all these precious amulets came either by chance or with blessings from Phra Ajahns. Pls accept my apologies if this come across like boasting. I am not. I am exhorting the virtue of chanting the Jinnapajara katha and also there is no need to spend large amount of money to chase after rare amulets.

Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu

Hello Albert, I did meet up with bro Hoon to get the Phra Somdej. But he probably has something for you from his many years of close contacts with highly regarded monks.

In fact I am more of a beginner than you when it comes to these Thai Buddhist amulets. When i was in Bangkok, I just enjoy looking at the many amulets sold almost everywhere... and i dunno if its psychological or what but you do feel a sense of peace when wearing one of these amulets...and i dun even know how to differntiate if its genuine.....sometimes Buddha"s image alone can give u a sense of peace....

I am learning a lot from this forum...... and bro Hoon, if you ever drop by east coast area for a cuppa kopi, feel free to call me, especially on Sat afternoons....would love to hear more of your experiences with the various Thai temples and monks.

I watched a DVD on "Life of Lord Buddha" recently compiled by BBC. It changes my perception on Buddhism. The remaining 40 years after enlightment, Lord Buddha taught people with his teachings as well as remind to respect him as a human being and not a god. The Thai pratice (Theravada Buddhism as you may call) is an evolved form but the country is deeply worshipping the Buddha and his teachings. I recently went to Thailand, and found curiosity in the practice of amulet usage by some Thai. Your site provides an easier introduction for someone like me. That is good for my knowledge. Thank You and I enjoyed te few hours of my readings.

regards from Hammerfest. Norway.
