Collection of my Thai Religious Amulets/Pendants - Message Board/Guestbook

Religious Thai Amulets are immensely popular among many Thai locals or even the Chinese that residing in South East Asia - probably most followers never have the chance to worship the religion and hopefully with the little image that we wear on the body can provide some form of relief. As I mentioned in the site, probably it takes a Thai to create such a high quality website features specifically on these lovely collective pendants. As I can never be claimed knowledgeable in this strong thai traditions but since I am a web developer in nature, I create this solely for personal consumption and hope to provide a linkage among all passionate collectors. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Enjoy.

The oval shape Jathukarm amulets have been around for quite a number of years. We may be having some reservation on the current actice state of trade of these amulets but prior to this, they are just like any amulets which deserve the same respect as it was produce of Buddhist temples for upkeeping / maintanence of temple facilities. Well, I am not saying 1/3 of the population of the Thai kingdom requires some wisdom into this; for Thai folks who may have been invloved into these level of craze also have their own belief and it is not very "nice" to conclude Jathukarm is not Buddhism because Buddhism never teaches us to use amulet either - so, we use and wear amulets are simply a "side channel" or just a practice of a Buddhism school of Theravada. Will one day Jathukarm commands or enjoys as same status of another new respectful Thai Buddhist image form is too early to tell. Just like a close friend of mine from BKK has suggested, they are being produced faster than the assemsbling lines in the electonic factories just to cope with market demand. While generally, most limited edition commemorative pieces may have some limitation on quantities produced but during his recent visit to an amulet market, literally all the road side stores are piling with Jathukarm images and there "MADE" crowds around them. Perhaps, one day it requires either some natural "miracles" or man made events to extend the crazy state further. Laslty, faked cottage factories couldn't be more wellcome to realize this.

Jatukarm or Jathukam : this is a ery interesting read posted by Bangkok Post relating to the Jatukarm Ramathep craze right now happening in Thailand, as a site quotes it as "..breaking all sales records in the entire history of Buddhist amulets...". and it also says "... 35-year-old monk of Nakhon Si Thammarat who gained over 150 million baht in February from selling Jatukarm amulets has been an inspiration for many abbots and investors to launch several classes of this amulet. As a result, hundreds of temples in the South are now dedicatedly commercialising on this talisman. The cult has already spread to Chiang Mai and other provinces...." :-

Another English site is here (Highly readable with better information on the amulet form):-
http://www.buddhistchannel.tv/index.php?id=70,4076,0,0,1,0

And now there are a few specific sites on Jatukarm Ramathep amulets (in Thai):-

http://www.jatukarm.com/index.php
http://www.jatukarm-rammathep.com
+ many others (simply use the key word search "Jatukarm".

I am NOT a big fan of this NOR trying to promote this image form here but rather, just let some of the brothers here to understand of its background & judge it via personal justification of its collectible value with your own wisdom, that is all.

Hi.. first time visitor to this lovely site. I like it because it is very friendly. I guess 95% of us don't own superlative or out of this world collectible pieces of the amulets and providing this forum is very useful for general discussion. I have mailed some online gurus but no one seemed bother to reply my questions at all. Anyway, I have three pieces of a Soomdej, Chinraraj and a LP Negrn. NOt particularly very old but I have been using them for the last 10 years or so. After reading the srticles, I have began getting hooked to Pongsuphan now. May be next trip I can try to locate one in Bangkok. I am still not very confident on onlines trades yet. haha///

Regards from C. Highland.

I don't check the message board often but when I did, I read the posts regarding LP Daeng's amulets. This immediately reminds me of something I read a few months ago at another site.

http://lekwatruak.netfirms.com/lpdaeng1.html

I have to admit I didn't feel comfortable when this site's pictures were seen at thai-amulets.com. But well, if one is a genuinely Buddhist, one knows that stealing is a big violation against what Buddha taught. It is ironic that such violation is found among a Buddhist amulet seller.

Sad, but true. Let karma take its course.

for Y.K.T.: hello, yes i am from The Czech Republic. I have spend a lot of time in Thailand for the past 4 years :))
After i'll finish LP Daeng section i would like to add LP Doo and LP Song (Chumphon) as well - if i have powers :))

I would also like to appeal a bit on the webmaster(Kakaman?) to remove my comment about http://www.thai-amulets.com/ - the guy who runs the site have appologised and removed both items from his shop( http://www.thai-amulets.com/amulet_listing.php?monk=LP%20Daeng ). He told me he was fooled by someone else. I don't wanna harm him really although his note about the GUARANTEE made me upset and made me write letters and comments. thank you, Jan

NOTE by Co-Moderator:- Update, to maintain good will and brotherhood, I have removed the comment by Jan.

Personally, I find Ian's site on the Guru (Luong Phor Daeng) is far better in content building as well as in its accuracy (good job !):

By the way, Ian .cz is Czech Republic. Are you a Czech ?
