Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Mr Phil, the lens with the Nikon Fm2 Titan is apparently a AF Nikkor 28mm f/1.4D. It costs a bomb because it is the fastest lens in the 28mm focal length; next it uses a milled apherical lens element which is so much costly than using optical resin. Well, you can check any online sales outlet for camera for th price.2. From : JM (jmarchese@thatchertech.com)

Anyone know where I can get an online manual for an FM3a. Mine is Japanese market model and I can't read the manual. No problem using it, but it would be nice to read through it.3. From : Hermann Graf (hermann.graf@basf-ag.de)

To Pang: I would try a zoom, like a 28-80 mm, a 35-70 mm or a 35-135 mm, just to get familiar with the effects of the different focal lengths.4. From : phil (williamphil@epicities.com)

Hello Everyone,
It is a beginner for camera apparatus and my brother gave me a

Thanks your assistance.6. From : Clive Nordström (cliffnords_1998@yahoo.com)

Wow.. it is great to find this community. I like this message board system too. I have been using a Nikon FM since 1998 and has bought a FM2 Titan last year with a couple of older nikkor lenses. The Nikons are very dependable cameras and seldom give you headache during trips (may be once during the last 10 years which I encountered a battery failed incident which is no problem at all because it still can shoot pictures without power). Lastly, this is a very nice web place and I will be back !7. From : Alan Johnstone (aljohn1@hotmail.com)

I recently bought a FM from a neighbour,it is a great camera.
With the motordrive attached the off center tripod socket makes using my Metz45CL1 awkward. Does anybody know of a plate that could be added to the MD12 to move the tripod socket back to the more usable middle position.Any info in regard to this would be greatly appreaciated. If reply by email please make mention on Nikon FM in the subject line.

The FM2 that was never built:In 1987 my black FM2 N 7368487 was badly damaged after a fall. However, Nikon Germany were able to repair it, and it’s still working today. As part of the upper cap had to be replaced its new product number is N7303846.
Let me congratulate you to your excellent website. It is a mine of information and very enjoyable.

my FM was bought in 1979. The foam dampers behind the mirrors have perished. Should i repair these? is it possible to repair this part of the camera?

I have read your comment on the FM10. Why can't it be use with a databack (mf16 ?) and the motor drive md-12 ? it is still a nikon FM camera, right ?
