Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FM Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

The new Nikon models use a BS-1 hot-shoe cover...I'm trying to find out what part number corresponds to the cover used by the FM2. Is it different from that for the FM3a, or are they identical? I found a BS-1 a couple of millimetres too long to fit perfectly on my FM2.

I have a FM2n and the film counter has stopped working. It is permanently set on 21 and does not reset when I push the film counter reset button. Any suggestions?

I don't think it is possible but I have heard the FE2, FA can have the replacement unit with the aluminum alloy type. The mass is different for the first version of the FM2 (1/200 sec top sync model).

Help. I need substitute rear curtain sync for my FE2 and FM2. i.e. A delay device or a remote hand operated trigger kind of like a car door remote. Here is what I want to do. I want to take a low light several second exposure of me and my family against a backgroung that is cool, with the flash going off at the end (rear curtain) to expose the people nicely. I thought of setting the FE2 to "A" setting which would probably? correctly expose for several seconds, but introducing the flash to this arrangement (at the beginning as normal) would halt the several second element, thus shipwrecking the whole thing, Any ideas? thanks.

The easiest way is to bid from Ebay (ebay.com) or reputable traders (keh.com, adorama, com etc). If you are from leo's neiborhood (malaysia= or near by countries), you should try to have a look at his buy/sell site: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/ftz/index.php3 next, what is "Wide" zoom or prime wideangles ? What brand ? if Nikon original lenses are your preference, reead here first: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/index.htm select the angle you wish at the bottom section of that page. Help it helps.

To those who may be interested: The new Nikon F5 site is opened for preview now:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/NikonF5/index.htm
The section has included some newer AF Micro-Nikkor optics at the MACRO segment (lacks good macro photos to bright up the pages, but I am talking to some for contributions). A dedicated Message Board is also provided. Enjoy.
