Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

thanks rick, good idea, i will ask some german service. I didn´t measure the size. It´s a very handsome camera and the FM is (beside my Spotmatics and Takumars) my new "love" for 35mm analog still and landscape photography. But maybe i have to get a new FM3a to get a clean screen ;-)4. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Klemens: You could try, but I really doubt it: the FM has been out of production for 20 years, and I don't think they would still be supporting it. Several (maybe 10) years ago I tried to get a repair part for an EM and they had already stopped supporting repairs on it at that time, and the FM and EM are of similar age. You might try contacting repair facilities, perhaps one would have an unused screen still in stock from years ago. Do you have the exact dimensions of the screen? rick :)=5. Hi Rick, as i cleaned the FM and gave her new foams i found it easy to get the screen out of it and to put the dust off. But i bought the FM second hand and the screen isn´t in the condition to use it (for me...). So i thought it´s maybe possible to get one from the nikon service??? regards Klemens7. Hi Klemens: The screen is not interchangeable in the FM, so you might have to buy a camera to get the screen out of it. Interchangeable screens began with the FM2.8. From : Klemens (germany) (kordt.blackbox@t-online)

Hi Anthony: You have a Nikon FM. You can learn more about it at the "Nikon FM Series" link above. The FM accepts Nikkor AI, AIS and most AF lenses (though of course you still have to focus manually), and Nikon Series E lenses. The older Non-AI lenses can be used, but only with stop-down metering unless the lens has been modified to bring it up to AI specs.10.
