Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. I wouldn't conclude immediately it was caused by that but rather, user's set exposure error OR wrong ASA setting with the film in use could possibly be the main cause as the light-tight foam can only cause some fogging, may not go to such extend like causing over-exposed your images. Anyway, replacing the cotton lining and/or rubber foam along the film back sectons is not very costly and you can ask any resonably good technician to handle for you (actually you can do it yourself if you know or confident in knowing how to handle such task).4. Question for anyone. I recently purchased a used FM10, and after the first roll noticed that the film was over exposed. Opening the back for the second time, I noticed that the door seal was almost all gone. Please tell me I'm assuming right when I think that this could be the problem? Gil5. To Sandro: The FM2 is only apt for the use of AI or AIS lenses (lenses manufactured from 1978 on). With non-AI lenses, there is no aperture coupling with the camera, therefore, the light meter cannot work. Moreover, when mounting non-AI lenses on the FM2, you risk serious damage of your camera.7. To Don: With the FM2, you can use any type of polarizing filter (linear or circular), since it is not an autofocus camera.8. From : Don Hobson (fdhobson@msn.com)

Hi everybody, I have a well loved FM where the lightmeter doesn't work. The repairer wants a £ 110 for that, which i try to avoid. Is there anything I can do myself with basic diy knowledge? Or do u know somebody , who does this sort of repair cheaper. Many thanks and kind regards alexander10.
