Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FM Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for some of these great SLR bodies by Nikon, its creator. Greetings, I have a question about my Nilon camera. It is an FM 2141529. When I look through the lens, I see tiny hairs and other debris. How do I get rid of this? Thank you, Lisa Keppel

Hello, I have got a Nikon camera with the following serial number on the backside: FM 2253718. I want to know what kind of camera it is. Is it a Nikon FM, FM2, FM2n or other? I got the camera from my father and i want to sell it but i don't know for how much. I'm not interested in photography. Thank you! Peter Dekker

Gabe - MD-12 works with FA, FE, FE2, FM, FM2 and FM3A - prize depends. You will have to shop arround. All AF-Nikkors except G-series can be used with FM2. Most new Nikon Speedlites will cater for Auto mode with FM2.

Duarte - in that case I would forget the the FM-10 or FE-10 and get either an FM, FM2 or FM3A. They are all made by Nikon andf not Cosina as are FM-10 and FE-10 (whose main diference is that FE-10 has an electronical shutter and FM-10 a mechanical ditto, BTW.)

I just bought a Nikon FM2 Chrome, mint condition and a couple of lenses. Now I am coming from the Canon family. I had a Canon 1N RS and all accessories, but after backpacking through Asia it crapped out on me. So here I am, going back to the old school of photography, fully manual. Less problems.....no electronics. I have a few questions I was hopeing to get some answers on. First, Will the MD-12 work on my FM2 and if so whats a good price to pay for one? Secondly, can I use any Nikon lenses, even if they are ment for Auto-focus bodies? and thirdly, Can I attach a new Nikon Speedlite flash to the FM2, and recieve some type of auto settings? If anyone with answers email me at gabe.photography@eudoramail.com that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Gabe McClintock

MD11 winder not working. Further to my earlier posting and my dead winder. On spliting the unit the main transistor powering the motor had overheated and shattered. For future ref .The code was Hitachi 2s a715c 5c5 and was replaced with a bd238 or bd140 pnp tranny. I think the problem was the motor was over worked by dirt in the gears at the base and a dunk in wd40 and some grease and it is working a treat.A beautiful piece of kit. Ian
