Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Hi Steve: That price might be a bit toward the high side for that outfit, but it doesn't seem unreasonable; and the FM is an excellent camera for the purpose. There is some redundancy in the lenses that are with it; you might consider going ahead and buying it, and then selling one of the zooms to recoup a part of the cost. If it were me, I would keep the Nikon lens and sell the Tokina.4. From : steve (slscars@comcast.net)

I am in the process of purchashing a manual camera for my daughter starting a college photography class. I have a co-worker that has a Nikon FM with a Nikon 35-70mm and Tokina 35-135mm lens. It also includes a Vivitar 2500 flash.
He is the original owner and everything looks to be in good condition, would $275.00 be a fair price for this package?5. From : eng shen (the_charming_north@yahoo.com.au)

Hi Mark:
One of the biggest differences between the FM and the FM2 is that the FM2 has intechangeable focusing screens and the FM does not. Removing the screen from the FM is not a user-performable task.7. From : mark stachowski (markstachowskisr@yahoo.com)

Sirs, I have a FM that I would like to clean under the focus screen. All the instructions I've seen show the tab to be in the front (fm2?). Mine is on the right hand side! How do I do this? Do I need a special tool? Mark.8. From : Johan (johanfalleyn@hotmail.com)

I have conflicting information regarding materials and wall thicknesses of the following FM2n, FM2n/T, and FM3a parts: body die castings; top plates, bottom plates; and F-mount ring/flange. What are these parts made of in their respective FMs? What are the wall thicknesses of the camera body castings and top and bottom plates?
I have been told the FM3a has a viewfinder shutter, that its viewfinder is easier for spectacle wearer to view than FM2n. Are these true?
What is the TTL flash shutter speed limit?
Is the MF-16 databack compatible with DX coding?

Ok I have a Nikon FM10 that I bought fairly cheap from a co-worker. It only had one lens (the 35-70mm that must of come with it), I would like to get a zoom lens to play around with on it. Seen a Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 DI LD 1:2 Macro Lens that I was thinking of buying, however I'm not a Nikon user originally (started with Canon Rebel) so I was wondering if there would be lens mount issues I don't know about.
Any help would be great, thanks! :)
