Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

Hi, Is there any method of dating an FM2n from its serial number or numbers found within the camera body. Iam aware that it is possible to date Canon,s camera to the year, month and factory. Is this possible with the FM2. Regards3. From : Greg Hicken (g.hicken@blueyonder.co.uk)

Note: I forget to check if the film advance lever can perform multiple short strokes like the Nikon F3 (Since it has a mechanical mechanism, but I doubt it can, but do post your finding at the Message Board section).

Mike: YES. Your Series E Zoom lenses can be used with your Nikon FM with no adjustment at all. PLEASE ensure the tab on your metering ring (body section) stays down at normal position. The E-series lenses are NOT compatible with MF Nikon SLR camera models produced prior to year 1977 for metering. For information relating to other E-series lenses, see:

My girl friend had a FM2n which she has bought in US while she was studying there with a XXpassport offered by Nikon US. It is virtually the same with mine that I bought in Hong Kong 6 years ago. I am not sure what are the differences (or if there is anything Xtraordinary within the shell). Sometimes, hard to understand such kind of strange marketing strategies implements by these Japanese companies to milk the users. Are there any other input relating to this topic ? I'd love to hear more views from users other than Asia pacific region. Thanks.10. I have the intention of getting a new FM3A for my son in the collage. I notice here we have gray market product which obviously cheaper than those offer by nikon USA. Are they the same and does it justify the lesser price it sells ? IF they are the same and when Nikon claims international warranty is acceptable worldwide then why does Nikon uSA does not recognised the manufacturer's warranty issued on those products ? Is Nikon USA a distributor for Nikon in US or simply an associate company ? Time is tough, thinking of saving some hard earned cash ...
