Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. Sorry if this a bit of a stupid question but I am not a camera person! I am trying to sort out a Christmas present for someone who is. He has got a Nikon camera with FM3 on the front of it but some of the articles I am reading mention a Nikon FM3A - are these one and the same thing or are they different cameras?2. I have a problem with my Nikon FM. The shutter release button can be pushed down but the Film advance Lever locks itself halfway making it unable to wind forward to the next film frame. I don't know if it is the release button or the advance lever which is the culprit? Or is it something else altogether? Can this problem be fixed without costly repairs? Any helpful tips? Thanks for your help Finn, Norway3. From : Fred (rekcotsarch@aol.com)

Hello, I am a beginner in photography world, but would like to learn more about photograhping. recently i bought a Nikon FM2 SLR camera which is completely manual zoom and focus. The camera , offer a exposure meter which we can see in the viewfinder ( +, 0, -)
1. i believe that the most ideal exposure is 0, right?
2. the number indicated at the shutter speed adjustment button, is the shutter speed right? for example number 1 , should mean 1 second, right? But why when i adjust to this number, and press the "shoot" button, it take more than 10 second to open and close the shutter? And everytime it will have different timing although i didn't change anything. What could be wrong to the camera? I believe that if i expose more than 2 second , most propably the image will be over-expose. Regards, Alex5. From : koko (kokopeds@yahoo.com)

To Jim: You must operate the film advance lever in one full stroke or in several small strokes to cock the shutter, otherwise you cannot release it. Be sure that the shutter speed dial is set to a certain speed and not in an intermediate position (for testing, select a short shutter speed such as 1/250). Rgds. Hermann Graf7. To Eddy: You can only use the "B" position of the shutter speed dial, holding the shutter release button compressed for 2 seconds. Rgds. Hermann Graf8. From : Eddy de Bruin (eddydebruin@xs4all.nl)

Dear Nikon specialists, I.m looking forward to using my FM2 at slower than 2 seconds lense openings. What should I do? I also use my F100. How should I achieve the same with my F100? Kind regards, Eddy de Bruin9. From : Bill Perich (wperich@comcast.net)
