Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FM Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for some of these great SLR bodies by Nikon, its creator. Hi, I know very little about cameras and lenses, so have difficulty in distinguish AI from nonAI lense and its compatibility. I had a very old FM2, with a TAMRON lense whose spec are: TAMRON SP 28-80 mm 1:3.5-4.2. I can't find any rabbit ear or meter coupling guide on it. I think it is a non-AI, but can it be used on FM3a with ease, without damaging the camera or the lense? Thanks in advance. Shoubang

Rui Cardoso: FM3a marked shutter speeds (both displayed at Dial and inside finder) are from 1 sec to 1/4000 sec. but when operates in auto exposure, it actually extends its range down to 8 sec. but not shown on the menu. I think these was explained at page ..... index7.htm Hope this info helps. Although it is not significant, but should we called the camera "FM3A" and not "FM3a"? Anyway, Leonard, overall, I like your new site and the pictures used are simply brilliant.

Hi all, I just bougth a brand new FM3A Black. It's an amaizing piece of equipment, but i just have one doubt about it: The spec sheet says that the shutter speed range for this camera is 8" to 1/4000", but in the shutter speed ring I only find speeds from 1" to 1/4000". This may seam ok because speeds of 1" to 8" should only be available in auto-exposure mode, but I can't find them either the shutter speed scale inside the view-finder. I checked through the manual and I did not find any reference to this issue, I also checked this pages's article about the FM3A, and could not find answers either... Does anyone know how does this work? Thanks in advance, -Rui

"Danish" - getting a cheap AF Can0n to replace your FM-10 sounds like a great idea.

i need some help! i bought a brand new fm10 a couple of months ago to learn photography from the ground up. But the manual focus is now beginning to annoy me! In quick situations it can be very frustrating and i am having trouble finding a suitable flash that can do the light estimation work for me. SHould i sell this and get a Canon rebel 2000 eos 300? I would appreciate any and all help.

Sam - I not aware of any online images of the procedure. The needed advice is perhaps a bit long for message board as this one, but at NikonRepair (see URL above) we could help you.
