Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's MIR Guestbook | instead.

Hi, everyone. I'm interested in purchasing a Contax bellows oline, but it does not have a focusing rail. So, my question is, how does the Contax bellows attach to a focusing rail? Is it a universal attachment (i.e., I could mount a plate to it with standard thread), or does it fit specifically into the groves of the matching Contax focusing rail? I don't mind getting a focusing rail at a later date, but in the meantime, I wanted to know if I could mount the bellows to my tripod or other rail via a plate.... Thanks, Pete. Thanks

Does anybody have any information on a couple of lenses I recently aquired.
1. Labelled 2X Nikon Japan No 272xx
It has a standard Nikon F mount 4.8-32.

2. Labelled 5X Nikon Japan N. 263xx
It has a standard Nikon F mount and is marked 2.6-16.
Both lenses work very well on a nikon bellows unit but only focus at a fixed distance presumably to give 2X and 5X magnification. The lenses are very well made and much heavier than a standard AI or Non Ai lens of comparable size. I suspect that they may have something to do with optometry.
Both lenses are in mint condition.

Well, Howard, the answer to that question depends more on you than on me. It's probably a safe assumption that you'll be moving toward digital and away from film over the coming years.... do you think you'll be trading in your EOS 650 for a Digital Rebel or something on that order? If so, you can by a tele for your 650 and use it on the digital SLR. If not, then the PowerShot might be a better investment.

In about 3 mos., I'm scheduled to visit Alaska and feel like I'm in over my head with camera choices.
Right now, I own 2 -- a Canon EOS 650 (w/o telephoto) and a simple PC Intel digital.
Would really appreciate any tips in locating and choosing an inexpensive telephoto for the EOS -- OR MAYBE it would be sensible to forget the EOS and simply purchase a Canon Power Shot S2 IE w/ 10x telephoto?
PLEASE email me at hrkight@netzero.com

Dear brother Rick, don't frame me...haha Doing a site can be of plenty of fun and joy. But I think one criteria to create an acceptable content is, one must have the interest (sorry..) and a reasonably sound knowledge into the products that intend to feature. I am pretty RAW with the Voigtlander. Anyway, probably you are much better than me (info I gathered from your site). Well, I have so many things to do with so little time to catch up with the many other matters. I would say, I am out of steam lately ..

Hi Jim: I think you're probably referring to the Voigtlander Nokton lens? No, I don't think there are any Voigtlander products covered on this site......... rick :)=

Charles: www.canonfd.com should have a downloadable copy of the manual you are looking for.
