Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. Canon FD 50mm 3.5 macro bayonet fitting
I want to know the distance (clearance) from the front part of the lens to the object focus at 1:2 magnification, i.e. without extension tube, and at 1:1, i.e. with 25mm extension tube.
Also the webpages at www.canonfd

I came across your pages on the Nikkor 80-200 f4.5 AI that mention known serial numbers to be in the 8xx xxx range. It might be interesting for you that one of these lenses bearing the S/N 904747 has just been for sale on ebay.de. The auction has ended but I can send you an image if you like (for verification, I don't know if it's copyrighted).
Cheers,

I would love a canon 35mm - 135mm f2.0 to f2.8 lens. It appears that most wedding photographers carry the 24mm - 70mm f2.8 and the 70mm - 200mm f2.8 around. I would rather carry just one lens. Is there a market for an in between lens?6. From : Kolbjoern (kofosse@roadpark.no)

I have a Nikomat bought in Tokyo in 1972. Nice kamera, but not in use any more, exept that this is perfekt for explaining other people about camerafunctions. The problem is that the telease butten has locked. Has anyone an idea how to unrelease the blocking.
Best regard Kolboern7. From : Frank (sir.bera@btinternet.com)

Greetings. On CANON:
Would anyone know how to find out how many samples of a certain lens type have been produced?
I am particularly interested in the breech-lock version of the 3.5 24-35mm Aspherical zoom as it was in production for only 1 year from 1978 to 1979. Suspect the number must be pretty low (>10,000)?
Thanks, Frank8. From : Rosio (amancai@hotmail.com)

Hello, I have an old EOS 630, I'm looking for some new lens, and, very important, I don't know much about cameras. Can you guide me to some good options to take shots about a bit of everything? I mean, scenery, people, sports or moving images? I will need more than one? What's the best option? Thank you.9. From : Don Laycock (tucsondon2@hughes.net)
