Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. I am trying to locate the retractable lens hood used on the Canon FD 400mm 4.5 lens. (The one I have has been damaged) If anyone has one, or knows of a small repair shop that may have one, please pass their name on.
With much thanks...
Sincerely,
Michael Strange4. From : Mark (markbogulavsky@hotmail.com)

Hi,
My father recently passed away and left his old photography equipment. Among them is a NIKKOR T 10.5cm f4-f22 lens (no.406986). I am not familiar with this lens and my online searches seem to
indicate that this may be a rare lens (1000 or so produced?).
I would like to know more about its significance or value.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have a Canon TX and FTb and a FD 28mm 2.8, FD 50mm 1.4, FD 35-70mm 3.5-4.5, and a Vivitar 100 3.5 macro (FD mount). Although I could not find much information about it, I recently purchased a used (in like new condition) FD 200 F4. I have searched the web, but have not found any information regarding its optical quality. Any comments on this lens from people who have used it?7. From : Stephen La Perla (laperla@pipeline.com)

Does anyone know where I might find a front lens cap for the Canon FD 300mm f1:4? It originally came with a C-84, do any of the EOS lens caps fit? Thanks for any help. S.8. From : George Danochristos (pereubu@mail.kapatel.gr)

Could someone please tell me if the 25mm wide-angle lens shown in the photo at my URL is missing the rear lens element? It's a Braun with a Nikon mount and all components work fine but when put onto my Nikon F the viewed image is a complete blur regardless of the position of the focus ring. Thanks! -Jim10. Does anyone know of a reputable place that is capable of cleaning a lens such as my Canon 35mm-105mm f/3.5? I am not sure if it is realistic to send a nice lens in to a shop and get it tuned up. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Drew
