Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. Hi LDavis:
If the lens is marked "Canon Lens FD", it will fit and work properly on your AV-1.2. From : Rick Oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Steph:
Makinon lenses were made to fit different cameras. There should be an engraved mark, usually either on the bayonet flange or on the aperture ring, indicating what camera the lens fits. The mark for a lens that fits the Nikon EM is usually either "N" or "N/AI".3. From : LDavis (marllyn87@earthlink.net)

I have a question, and I was hopeing someone might be able to answer me. I have an old Nikon EM. I've never even used it. I recently found a Makinon 135mm lens that some 12 year old was selling at a garage sell. It was 3 bucks so i bought it. Are these to compatible? I currently use digital, but i'd like to make the switch to film.5. From : Rick Q. (wyatt80@optonline.net)

Hi can someone provide info.,please? Among my cameras is a 1967 F that I shoot with my 85 F1.4 with ears. Today I was offered a 28mm F1.3 manual focus lens, for $50.00 USD. I can not find any information on such a lens anywhere. It is a internet sale so I am waiting for a photo. Does this lens exist and is it optically a good lens? I am thinking its a F3.5.
Thanks
Rick

For the record, f1.4/50mm and f1.8/50mm breach lock FD lenses both take a 55mm filter. The f1.2/55mm lens takes a 58mm filter.7. From : Chris Holmes (holmes31ch@btinternet.com)

Hi Chris:
No, it's not a bad question at all. Most lenses of that era had the filter size engraved on the front ID ring, but the Canons did not.
The "bayonet style" lens, all black with a silver release button at the lower left corner, takes a 52mm filter. This should be the lens on your 1985 era camera. I believe that the earlier "breechlock" style lens with a silver ring at the back took a 55mm filter, but the only breechlock lens I have is the f/1.4 so I can't check it to make sure for the early 1.8.9. Apologies if this is a simple and naive question.
I have a circa 1985 Canon T50 with a 50mm 1:1.8 lens. What size (diameter) of skylight filter should I be buying?
Thanks in anticipation.10. DISCONTINUED LENS PART NEEDED - NIKON 80-200 2.8 AF ED
While cleaning a Nikon 80-200 2.8D lens I accidently broke the ribbon cable leading to the contacts. I am looking for
NIKON PART # 1 B060-641. (Or a parts lens.)
It is a large circuit board with all the lenses electronic components. It is discontinued from Nikon and without it the beautiful AF lens becomes a totally manual lens.
Thanks, Dennis
