Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. Hi Kenneth:

Yes. I chose a Canon rather than a Nikon specifically so that I could use my old Nikkor lenses on it. With a $20 adapter, the Canon gives manual and aperture-priority auto metering with all manual focus Nikkors including the old Non-AI ones from the 60s. There is also a more expensive lens adapter with a chip that activates the AF lights in the viewfinder to help you focus... that one costs about $80. I have one of each of these adapters, both work well and permit infinity focus.

In addition the the Canon, you can get Nikkor adapters to fit the Olympus E-volt DSLRs. I don't think there is one to fit the Pentax line, but I haven't really looked for one.

Questions: Is there a way I can use a device to mount my Nikkor (manual) lenses onto the Canon or Pentax new digital SLRs? Undecided what system to follow since Nikon new digital provides very little compaibility now and make no differences.

I find it interesting that when the official name was changed to NIKON, from the older name, they actually used a Greek word meaning the VICTOR or the OVERCOMER. Pronounced NEE'-Kawn, it is found frequently in the New Testament of the King James Bible in the original language. Nothing about lenses or photography in this message, but NIKON has always been the victor in my humble opinion.

I am looking for a review about Nikkor 55 mm f/1.2. I own one of theses lenses, which I bought brand new about 1978, but never run across a reliable review (neither a non-reliable!).

Any help will be very appreciated.
Lou.

I have just bought a FA w. MD-15 (for next to nothing :-) but the camera does not respond - no shutter, no light no anything. Can anyone tell me, if the FA has problems getting started again, when out of power ?

I compliment your effort on the Nikkor 85mm f/1.4s, but I think the 85mm f/2.0s is a better and sharper lens. It shares both compactness, lightweight and a good price which is affordable to many photographers. The AF Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.8D is another super value short tele which you should look at. I can't find info on the lens on your site, hope it can be featured in the future, thanks.
