Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. anon seem to offer both a 34mm REGULAR 1X drop-in filter for the FD300mm and a 34mm SKYLIGHT 1X drop-in filter - what is the difference? Also I acquired recently a 34mm ND4XL drop-in filter - does the signify only suitable for the FD300F4L lens or can I use it with my FD300mmF4? I sthere also somewhere I can read about the full range of drop-in filters for this lens - e.g. I do not know whether Canon did a circular polariser version of this drop-in filter....

Has this message board been dumped now? Surely everyone can't possibly have gone to auto-focus and digital? I have been out of the scene for a few years now but recently aquired two T90 bodies and presently in search of some good condition fast telephotos. If, as i sadly suspect, many of you have indeed turned to auto-focus and digital, then maybe you might have lenses kicking around which you no longer use. If this is the case then email me and i'll gladly take them off your hands if they are suitable...Cheers, cheekily....Andy :o)

hello everyone I am in a bind. I am a art school student and I was required to buy a 35mm camera my freshman year for a photo class, I have treated it very well up until last spring when it feel out of my hands on to the ground. ouch, so needless to say I haven't used it since, or developed the film( I can not use the darkroom unless I have a class in photo which I do not) anyways, I noticed that on the inside of the lens the three little overhangs that clip the lens in, are chipped a bit. not all the way but fragments are missing. Does this effect the cameras performance? please help me out

I have an a 55mm Auto Micro.. bought new in'80.. It has had little use, but I've noticed that the Iris does not 'open up' when on the Camera (F) unless made to do so manually, it does however seem to stop down for exposures. There is also a slight rattle to be heard when shking the lens. Presumably the operative spring has let go. Nikon claim that it will cost $175 to open and reset (replace?) the spring.. this seems to be a silly price.. are there any "do it Yerself' possibilities??

no, ram, this is not true; there were a few very early models (the original zenit, the zenit-c and, i think, the 3m) that took a unique 39mm lens thread, but the later models from about 1960 onwards take the standard M42 pentax/praktica universal screw mount.

it shouldn't be too hard to find a good used manual slr for $120 or less. a minolta srt, or something from ricoh or yashica.... almost anything in screw mount (other than a few pentaxes) should be in that price range.

Hi, I am so impressed with your site. It is a pleasure to browse whenever I have a question about the history and spec of my equipment. My question,I just bought a used Nikkor 135mm f2.0 I would appreciate it if someone could identify the year of manufacture. I am curious if it is a modified to AI version. The number is 191587. Thank you and all the effort you have put into your wonderful site, Kevin
