Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. I have a rare Canon FD 1:2 lens in as new condition. This lens is described in the Canon FD 50mm standard lenses resources pages.

Does anyone know how many of these were made and are they valuable?

Hi Rick.. I actually was able to solve this problem by removing the mount ring, and tightening up the rt. angle bar that keeps the helicoid in place and straight (which wasn't attached at all!). Once tightened, i reassembled it, and the problem was solved! As always, many thanks for your help - the adventure proved to have a positive result!

Hi Victor:

I don't have experience with the system, but the Sony DSLRs are the direct descendants of the Minolta Maxxum system, and my understanding is that the Maxxum lenses should fit the DSLRs. There may be exceptions though.

Hi Cale:

That does not sound good at all... I can't think of any non-catastrophic explanation for it, it might or might not be repairable.

If this was from a purchase, I would notify the seller immediately and make arrangements to return it for a refund. If it was a gift, and you feel like embarking on an adventure in camera repair, this is it.

Anyone have experience with Minolta film lenses on digital camera. I have a rather significant set of lenses and such from a Maxxum 7000, and just saw a note that Sony DSLR-A100 works with "some" of the Minolta lenses. Thanks and other forms of great homage!

..i posted this on the regular OM board before i realized that it probably belongs here.. oops & sorry!
-----------------------------------
Hi.. i just rcvd. an OM Zuiko 28mm f3.5 lens via UPS moments ago, and it appears to have some rather serious mechanical problems: on the surface, it seems that the entire lens is loose from the mount (all parts rotate together about 1/8" when holding the mount), and once it's set to the closest focus, it won't properly return to infinity (gets stuck, and the when backed up and tried again, will eventually make it to inf.). Has anyone encountered this before and is it difficult to repair? Thanks much!

I just picked up a 200mm NIKKOR Q with the silver sleeve to add to my collection. f=20cm and 1:4. Minimum aperture is f/22. Its serial number is: 176925. NIPPON KOGAKU. Can anyone give a date as I couldn't find history on a serial number this low? Thanks. It has a silver-ringed L1A filter attached. In a PRINZ Japan case.

Hi Pedro: I don't have that particular lens ... but in general, EF series lenses work on Canon digital SLRs.
