Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. For those in need of repair and cleaning of their Canon FD Lenses or Canon Cameras try STRAUSS PHOTO TECHNICAL SERVICE, 1240 MT. Olivet Rd., N.E. Washington D.C. 20002
Phone Number: 202-529-3200.
Canon refered me to them for the cleaning of fungus from my L lens. They cleaned two of them without so much as a trace that the lenses were ever with fungus. I highly recommend them.

Above is a URL for an FD to EOS converter on Ebay. The auction ends 5/12/02. This is a Canon part with the original box. It's not mine. I saw from some other messages that there was some interest in this converter.
Hope this helps

Hi All,
I've found in an older Canon catalogue "Lens mount FD-EOS converter", says that it works with several newer FD lenses, but is local lenght increased by 26% and f-stop drops by 2/3... has anyone used this thing? Is it still available or discontinued? How does it work... da you have to shoot on max aprature or smaller aperatures are possibe? How does camera meters with such
lens? Stopped-down or full-aperature? Is optical quality of original lens mantained (the converter obviously has some optical element)? What is value of it (new or s/h)?
Has anyone used it .. any comments/suggestions etc.. in short is it worth it... ? I have FD300/4L lens that I am very found of and I'm considering keeping it when/if I switch to EOS one day eventually. [Before you advise me to get EF 300/4L IS check the price tag - thank for understanding]
Thanks for any help,
Salinger Igor / Belgrade
