Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. Hi,
I have misplaced the original Lens for my Canon T50.
I would appreciate anyone who maybe able to tell me what type it was and where I can locate a replacement at a reasonable cost.
Thanks

I picked up a Minolta Rokkor-x 2.8 135 mm lens at a flea market and it appears to have a permanently "fogged" internal lens? I have able to remove the lens (in its mount) and tryed to clean it but most of the contaminant will not come off. Is there a place where I can purchase just the internal lens? Or, is there someone with a damaged lens assembly where I can extract just the lens I need?3. From : Malcolm Kantzler (photography@silkscape.com)

I have not read all the postings to see if the subject I am about to lay out has already been addressed, so please forgive any redundency.
The information regarding the Nikkor AF DC 135mm f2D lens on this site page ( http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/135mmnikkor/ ) which states that DC (defocus control) is to control depth of field is incorrect. The control has no meaningful effect on depth of field. It is intended to allow control of the appearance of the out-of-focus artifacts that are especially prominent when the out-of-focus foreground or backgraound contains highly reflective or contrasty elements. That is all. Depth of field remains reliable as indexed on the charts and lens readouts, regardless of the DC setting selected.

I am experiencing a problem with my camera flash. The camera is a Nikon SG and the flash is a SB27
The problem is this. When I turn the switch on, the flash unit may or may not energize (Led may or may not come on). If I turn the flash off and back on, it may come on and it may not, but is inconsistent. If I swivel the flash when it is on, the flash unit sometimes turns off. Any help? This is very important to me as I am using this equipment on my job, and don't want to have to spend a fortune buying a new flash unit.5. From : Mark Wahlster (awahlster@aol.com)

Has any one on the message board ever owned or even used a third party 1.5X teleconverter such as the one that was made by Kiron? These are very rare on ebay at least in FD mount and I was wondering has anyone ever compared one to a Canon 1.4X-A or even a 2X-A (yes I know about the 1 stop differance) I would like any and all comments. I have just purchased one and will be able to give it a good test once I have it in hand as I do a lot of bird photography and use both tubes and doublers on my two 400mm all the time. It would just be nice to compare notes. One thing I know it was only about $150.00 cheaper then a 1.4X-A

Has anyone used a PB-6 Bellows Focusing Attachment with a D1X? I am not confident in the materials of either camera or attachment to feel like I was not taking a risk. Especially if I am using a heavier lens like a 85mm PC Nikkor or a 17-35mm zoom.8. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

hi gary... your canomatic R lens fits the Canonflex, the first series of canon SLR cameras introduced in 1959. it was replaced by the FL series of lenses in the mid 1960s. although the breech mount itself is the same, i believe the diaphragm linkages are so different that the R lenses are not usable on later canon cameras. rick :)=9. I have a Canon Super-Canomatic Lens R 35mm 1:2.5 No.15961. I think this is an older lens-but fast for its time period. Does anyone know about this lens? What Canon camera it would fit? Thanks-

For John regarding a 300 f4 New FD lens that doesn't focus to infinity. Another possibility rather than adjusting an infinity focus stop is that the lens isn't seating as it should. The new FD lenses aren't overly strong in that regard compared to breech mount. I had a 35-105 zoom that didn't infinity focus and the problem was the rear stainless ring that snugs it to the camera's mounting flange. Being a heavy lens it had been stressed and deformed outward a little. (A 300 f4 would be heavier.) It mounted fine but was a fraction of a millimeter forward of the right position for the camera, hence just missing infinity focus. Take a close look at that part compared to the same piece on another lens.
I am talking about a stainless steel ring at the very back of the lens which has the 3 internal ears for mounting. On my lens it could be removed with the 3 phillips heads screws on the ring behind the aperature ring. I was able to tap it back to flat which restored infinity focus. As with all camera repairs, try and figure out what caused the condition first and fix the right thing. Hope this works,David Smith
