Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. Hola Fernando!
I agree: Pentax seems to have adopted the principles that were associated with Olympus in their heyday: Compact size, light weight, good handling and total system compatibility.2. From : Fernando Golod (fergoramone@hotmail.com)

Hello to everybody from BA Argentina, i wanted to comment the most amazing lens sistem, as always revolutionary when costumers care PENTAX has been forgotten. This is the only brand that kept its attaching sistem unchanged since the 70`s The K bayonet, it has evolved but even with a new Digital SLR Pentax *Ist i have to been able to screw a 50mm from a ME (amazing when two revolutionary technologies meet each other). If you dont have a great budget and you are looking for a great ammount of economic but not cheap lenses, Pentax is the right thing. I have a 50mm, 28mm, 35mm, 135mm and a teleconverter 2x and i can work in most chalenging light situations, by counting with f=22;1.7 and by little money (i didnt pay more than 70 dollars each, do the maths and its the cost of a dark amateur zoom), choose the universal K bayonet, that after working with an oldie pentax and its magnificent ammount of economic, various manufacturers (some vivitar`s are amazing, even better than some pentax)and most important, MULTIPORPOUSE, and im telling you this beacause i had to give away ($$ speaking) a canon EOS 3000, and i couldnt be happier right now.........
Any question you have my mail-..........

Hi Gassman:
Nikon's AI conversion kit consisted of a complete AI aperture ring and a coupling fork with "nostrils", including the screws to put it together. A late non-AI lens that has been upgraded with one of these kits is very difficult to distinguish from a production AI series lens, and the serial number is probably the easiest way to tell them apart. Based on your information I would guess that you have a late, non-AI lens that has been upgraded the right way.

Keeping it simple using a manual focus pre AI 85mm f1.8 on Nikon F4,1x studio light above and behind, bouncing out of silver brolly,f/16 with Kodak 160VC film, subject distance approx 12ft.
Ultra life like results (3/4 portaits)by changing a few portrait rules.
1/ Silver is better than white
2/ F16 is better than f4
3/ 85mm is better than 105mm (unless the 85mm is a manual f2!)

Hello.
Nothing really important. It's about the Micro Nikkor 105 F4.
I've just purchased in ebay a 105 F4 as an AI version, but when I check the unit number 179XXX with the information I saw here:
"...Lens case: CL-33S; No. 62. With PA-11: CL-35A; No. 63
Note: Serial number for this version of the 105mm Micro-Nikkor lens may have been started from 186956..."
I start to worry. I think it's possible I just own a non AI-modified Micro Nikkor or is it possible the information about the serial numbers was wrong?
Really don't mind too much, but the curiosity.
Is there a real and easy way to know the truth?6. From : Luigi D. Sandon (cp@sandon.it)

Wendy: it could be a light, film or development issue, not a camera one. Pictures taken under fluorescent light usually come out greenish. That kind light looks more or less "white" to us, but its spectrum is not continuos, and film records it in a different way.
A film that was not stored properly or past its expiry date could exhibit strange behaviours. A development process not properly performed (i.e. exhausted chemicals not replaced in time) too.
Try to change *one* of this parameter at a time, and see the results.7. From : Wendy Oczkowski (craftyw@msn.com)

I Need help!!! I have Minolta 7000 maxxum. I recieved with no manual and frankly all I know how to do is point and shoot, which has been working very well for me. But recently all the pictures I take are coming back very green looking. I found the manual online but didnt really understand it. What is off thats making the pictures green???? thank you in advance for your answer. I need to take senior pictures and my daughters on my case to get this fixed.8. Hi Alston: The SMC Pentax, Takumar bayonet and the one marked "P/K" fit Pentax K bayonet. The Canon lens is probably Canon FD mount, but not certainly. For the others you have not given enough information to know. There is an identification guide at the URL link above; you may be able to identify them by comparing them to the photos.
You can sell them on eBay. Don't set your prices too high, these are not worth a lot of money.9. From : marcelo (msoule@libero.it)
