Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. Hi Scott: The FM10 needs an AI or AIS series lens. Chances are 99% that the Tamron meets that requirement, but you can ask just to make sure. It's a very good lens.3. From : Scott Holmes (scott@big-john-arts.com)

Ok I have a Nikon FM10 that I bought fairly cheap from a co-worker. It only had one lens (the 35-70mm that must of come with it), I would like to get a zoom lens to play around with on it. Seen a Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 DI LD 1:2 Macro Lens that I was thinking of buying, however I'm not a Nikon user originally (started with Canon Rebel) so I was wondering if there would be lens mount issues I don't know about.
Any help would be great, thanks! :)4. From : B. Steinar (uzsod1@uni-bonn.de)

Hello, I have an AF Nikkor 85 mm 1.8 in very good condition but the af is completely stuck. It is impossible to manually focus the lens, too. The focus ring simply will not move. I took off the bayonet ring and carefully loosened the screws holding together the lens body, and after that the lens could be focused, but of course I cannot leave it like that. Does anybody have an idea about what has happened to the lens or how I could fix it? It does not seem as though any part is missing. Thanks in advance, B.S.5. Hi, R.:
Yeah, that's pretty normal. Just leave it at the click stop position for those settings.6. From : R Hamilton (robsport_99@yahoo.co.uk)

Hi Rodrigo:
If you get a substantial discount on the price of the lens for the nonworking AF function, I think it's a good opportunity. Be sure that the only problem is with the AF, and that the aperture selection function works properly.9. From : Randy (ramoo76@gmail.com)

I just purchased an older (perfect condition) Nikon Nikkor 75mm - 300mm zoom to use on my D50. When I mount the lens I get the dreaded Fee flashing message. What settings do I need to st on the camera to make these work together?
Please respond to my email if you don't mind.
Thank you!10.
