Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's MIR Guestbook | instead.

Hi Debbie:

You have a very valuable set there. These days, the value of a camera most often in practice means what it will sell for on eBay, and you can find that out yourself by searching for each item and seeing what kind of bids it has brought. You need to look at "Completed Auctions", and you will need to register with eBay to do this if you have not used eBay before.

I recommend separating the set out into its basic individual items rather than keeping it together: someone who badly wants the black Nikon F, for instance, may not be willing or able to also pay for the Reflex Nikkor in order to get the camera he wants.... and the value of the entire set is high enough that many people won't even try to bid on it all in one sale.

I have inherited this large group of Nikon and Nikkor lenses.
The cameras are the Nikon F, and the solid black Nikon F and the lenses range from the Nikkor Reflex to the Nikkor Telephoto Zoom, I have Bellows Focusing Attachment, Focusing Screens, waist level finder and so much more.
I am looking to get some estimates on this equipment from someone who knows about this equipment who would be willing to help me out. I want to know my price range prior to selling this equipment.
Thank you for reading this message
Debbie

Maureen - You don't say what cameras this is on, but my guess would be S for "Self-timer." Ken

Does anyone know what the "S" stands for, located to the right of the shutter, below "L" which i know stands for lock, and "A" for aperture. I just can't figure out what the S signifies.

I am selling an Olympus 180mm f2.8 lens on the dreaded ebay, and no one seems to get it. It is #545 and I think that is pretty special. May I use your wonderful web site as a link? I couldn't figure out any other way to contact you. Thank You and Best Regards -Bill

Need a AC power unit for flash on a Medical Nikkor 200mm lens (older version). The power packs that were made for a later version of the 200mm f/5.6 Medical-Nikkor (LA-1/LD-1) or the 120mm f/4 Medical-Nikkor (LA-2/LD-2) are not compatible with my lens.

Hello, Just purchased a Nikon Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AI-S. S/N 231734 The odd thing is that it has the specs (Nikon NIKKOR 20mm 1:2.8)inscribed in yellow (same yellow as per the meter focusing scale), the serial number blackened and the feet focusinf scale in pale yellow. Is it just an oddity (maybe done by the previous owner) or is it a factory color application? Thanks for any information! Regards and Merry Christmas Luca
