Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. I was just given a Canon 500mm Reflex lens by a family member, but no user's manual unfortunately. I would welcome receipt via e-mail of any suggestions or ideas where I might be able to find a copy of the instructions for the lens. I will be using this with a Canon AE-1P camera. Thanks in advance for any and all comments or suggestions offered.2. From : Phillip Papas (philip.papas@gmail.com)

Hi Lynn: It sounds like you may have a Nikon rangefinder camera from the 1950s. Please look at the pictures on this page and see if it looks like one of these cameras:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/htmls/rangefinder.htm
Nikon rangefinders are all quite valuable now and increasing in value. They are excellent cameras and capable of excellent results, but they demand a little more of the photographer than modern automatic cameras do. A full discussion may get a little long for the forum, so you may want to email me directly at the above address to discuss exactly what you have and how to use it. rick :)=4. Hi Trevor: What kind of lens is your 600mm? Does it work in AUTO mode with your AE1 or do you have to set it manually? Some lenses of this length have a screw-on, interchangeable mounting flange. If your lens is one of those, there is a T mount available to fit EOS series cameras. Here's a listing for one at our favorite place:
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-Mount-Adapter-Canon-EOS-Rebel-Camera-Scope-Bellows_W0QQitemZ7584070495QQcategoryZ4687QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
This works ONLY if the lens is designed for this kind of interchangeable mount. There are no electrical contacts; the lens does not connect to the meter, you have to stop it down to meter; it will not work in shutter priority or program modes (on either the EOS or the AE1 body) but should work in manual and aperture priority. If, however, your lens has a non-removable mounting flange, then you will need an FD/EOS adapter, which is like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CANON-EOS-20D-5D-10-D-EF-TO-CANON-FD-LENS-MOUNT-ADAPTER_W0QQitemZ7584066694QQcategoryZ4687QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You will have the same limitations here as with the T mount on the EOS Elan: no auto diaphragm, no meter coupling, obviously no autofocus. Usable exposure modes should be the same with either adapter. If your lens does have a T mount, you will get better optical results with that than you will with the FD/EOS adapter.8. If that is the case, DON'T click when you make the complaint (save one click), copy and paste ! haha ..Yeap. I think this has become a universal issue via email/onboard abuse. Where can we file a complaint ? I will do it for FREE for the host.9. From : jason (nomail@forthis.com)

Everyone knows how it works - execpt for this guy who thought we are stupid. Do it oce, it can be just ignoring, doing it multiples, that is what he thought it works, doing it for weeks that must be a bastard on the web. Well, he will keep doing it - as long as can generate a few clicks from the curious ones. I can see the wen host is patience enough to delete his posts for weeks. I salute such approach. I have also tried to locate the host once to make a complaint for leo (made me sick).10.
