Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's MIR Guestbook | instead.

Hi Harold:

It is common for oil to get onto the aperture blades after a number of years; the common assumption is that it separates from the grease in the focusing threads and migrates to other areas of the lens.

If you are in North America, click the URL link on this message for a listing of repair services in the USA and Canada; if you're somewhere else, maybe someone closer to you than I am can offer a suggestion. Cleaning a lens diaphragm is a routine repair job, any service shop should be able to take care of it for you.

I have a 55mm macro lens that has oil on the blades. Does anyone know where I can have it cleaned? Do you know why that happens? I have several other lens and none have a problem.

If anyone is interested in my list of lens please ask. I really like how a different lens helps make the picture different. It might be a zoom or a fixed focal at the same mm setting with the same f/stop but still get different results. The lens I have are from 28mm to 200mm with an asortment of e-series thrown in.

Help please.... My digital camera took a tumble tonight and is now toast...I was thinking about getting a SLR, but before I do I am wondering if my Minolta Maxxum 7000 AF 28-85 lens and a 50mm lens will fit a digital body?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I have also posted the same Q at Minolta Fourm at

Dear Terence (Hong Kong ?): Thanks for the good gesture. Actually, I have a page for the Leitz lenses on 13.5cm lens group. Basically, I take a pause on the Nikkor RF just to provide some info (basic) on the Leitz/Zeiss, the Canon page is not ready though. http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/RF-Nikkor/Leica_RF/LeicaLSM135mm.htm
Other variations/options of 4/135 Leitz/Zeiss lenses will be upload later.

Q: Just curious. Are the 435 Finder compatible to be used on the Nikkor 2.1cm ? The photos shown seems like having a universal base / mounting foot at your http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/RF-Nikkor/Contax_RF/ContaxZeissOptonBiogon.htm
A friend told methe Leitz Finder can't be used, may be the Contax is possible, true ?

Good Morning,

The two lens that came with my Canon T80 35mm SLR camera, are the 35-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 and the AC 75-200 1:4.5, which are in superb conditon. I was wondering what other Canon 35mm SLR cameras these two lenses will fit.

Thanks Tom
