Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. Thomas: first check your A-1 was put properly in stop down mode. Remember that you have first advance the the film and *then* disengage the lens aperture from "A" before you push the stop-down lever in. Otherwise the lens will stop-down as far as the aperture set for the previous exposure only.5. From : Thomas (Fishman57@aol.com)

HI I`ve got a FD 400mm 4.5. The aperature only stops down to about F8 then clicks but dosen`t close down.I discovered this using BULB with the back of an A1 open. Any ideas where to send for repair or estimate of cost? Thanks6. From : Daren (nomail@nospam.com)

Hi all! I have a Nikon Nikkor 105mm F2.8 Macro Lens and SB 21 Ring Flash for quite some time now. Recently I decided to buy a Sigma EM 140DG Ring flash, Nikon mount ofcourse.
When I bought the flash, I discovered that the 55 and 58mm adapter does not fit my old lens. Which diameter adapter would you all recommend. Thanks heaps. I'm not sure whether this post had been posted before. cheers
