Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. Bill: Vivitar, Sigma, Tokina and other companies made lenses for the Canon FD series. They are FD mount lenses that doesn’t require any adapter. The Vivitar series 1 lenses are excellent! Even though they are a bit on the heavy side ( Lots of glass) Winston4. From : Winston (winclowe@yahoo.com)

Tom: That zoom is what they call a one touch zoom (you zoom and focus with the same ring/piece) On a 2 touch zoom you have one ring to zoom and another for focusing. As to who made your lens I don’t know but, I would think it would have some marking on the lens that will tell you the maker. Winston.5. From : Jomar Haktorson (jomarh@online.no)

Joel: FD Breech MT means breech lock mount. This is the older FD type with 55mm filterring. If you bought your AE-1 Progran new, it was probably delivered with a new FD lens with 52mm filterring. The old type is heavier and a bit more troublesom to mount, but it works, and are operated in exactly the same way as the new one.
If you have to get a new lens anyway, I would take the opportunity to upgrade to the f 1:1,4 vesion. They are easy to find, and available for reasonable prices in both versions. If you buye the old type, look for one with the letters SSC, meaning that the lens is multicoated. New type FD 50 1:1,4 lenses are all multicoated.6. From : joel potter (mysterypacific@hotmail.com)

I have an ae-1p and my original 50/1.8 was damaged and I'm considering buying a used one (8+ condition from B&H) and they list that particular lense under FD Breech MT lenses. I'm wondering if this is the right one as I'm not familier with the "Breech MT" title on it.
Any help would be appreciated

I have an AE-1 Program (Canon) that is still in excellent shape. I would like to find a zoom lens for it. I know that Canon no longer makes the FD lens. Any good suggestions out there. If I go to a Tamron Lens I do know that I will need an adapter. The camera was purchase as a gift to me so it has sentimental value! Still takes great pictures. Photography is quickly becoming a hobby that i am enjoying. Thanks8. From : tom (morris.t.e@worldnet.att.net)

i have a zoom lens, 75-205. it takes a 62MM filter. the locking ring is chrome. This lens has no macro settings but a pure zoom which zooms by sliding and focus by turning. it fits my t70. has anyone know what manufacturer this might be or a web site to look at.
thanks,
