Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. Hello, I need an exploded parts diagram for the Canon 150-600mm f1:5,6 L zoom lens WITH PART NUMBERS. I cannot seem to find this anywhere. Canon thinks they may have some parts, but they (obviously) need part numbers from me to look up. However, they have informed me of Canon's policy of not letting out said diagrams. For what it's worth, this lens' serial number is 10371 and it is light buff in color, not white. Thanks!2. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Eddie:
There is no adaptor that I consider acceptable to use FD lenses on EOS cameras. Two types of adaptor are available: the first type, which is simply a metal ring that lets you mount the lens on the camera, gives good quality results, but because the EOS body is thicker than the FD body, the lens cannot be focused to infinity and can be used only for close-up shots. In the second type of adaptor, a lens element is added in the center to permit your lens to focus to infinity. However, this lens element degrades the quality of your image and also acts as a low power teleconverter, increasing the focal length of the lens. Particularly on a digital camera, which is very unforgiving of poor lens quality and has a 1.6x "telephoto factor" of its own due to the smaller sensor area, this is an undesirable combination of properties.
But these are just my personal views. If you do a lot of close-up work or are not very concerned about image quality, then you may want to try one of these adaptors. You can find them on eBay by searching for "FD EOS".3. From : Eddie (edzatri@yahoo.com)

Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a Nikon Series E manual focus Zoom 70-210mm f/4.0s telephoto zoom lens (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/emfgfg20/eserieslenses/htmls/70210mm.htm).
It seems that the focus ring is jammed at 210mm. It will still focus but the zoom cannot be changed. My friend mentioned that it might have zoom lock?
Is there anyway for me to unlock this so I can use the lense beyond its 210mm zoom setting?

Hi Everyone, this sounds like a very informative and educational site for camera and photo enthusiasts.I am happy to join, and enjoy the many postings here.I have a question foryou I am considering the purchase of a new Nikon dslr D5000 camera.I would like to be able to use my older MF lenses with this camera. The lenses I have are:
28 mm 3.5 Nikkor H non Ai'd ,
Micro-Nikkor 55mm 2.8 Ai'd,
Nikon Nikkor-P.C. Auto 2.5 105 mm Ai'd (has manual cut out conversion)
Nikkor-S Auto 1.4 50 mm Nippon Kogaku Ai'd,
Nikon Nikkor 50mm F2 Ai'd.
Can someone please tell me if these lenses are adaptable to the new D5000 camera to be used in Manual Focus.Or would I be better suited to using a different model which would accept all of these lenses to be used in MF mode.I had considered a Nikon D90 but feel this might be a bit too much camera for my uses.Any comments or help would be much appreciated. Thanks Al6. I own a Nikon-Nikkor 105mm 1:4 and have taken many great shots with it over the years with my Nikon-Nikkormat camera. Along with a Nikon-Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4 lens, they have served me well. They are all still in very good shape.
I still use them, as well as a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 digital camera.
I am now in research of a DSLR, and am leaning towards the Nikon D90. I am also in research for a lens for this possible D90. I am not sure which way to go, especially seeing I do have a few old Nikon lenses that may be of use with a new DSLR.
A good carry around, say a 24-80mm or 16-85mm, or a couple of primes?
I am here for input. All is welcome. Thank you. Steve8. From : Eamon Scott (seaburyscotts@eircom.net)
