Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..

Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. Canon fd was made in 1981 and tamron in 1987 Is there optical difference ? Is range difference important ? I will use it on my T90 body Should I wait and try to find canon fd 35-105 F3/5- 4/5 newer lens ? Thanks and regards

Zooms for T-90--in my quest for better lenses (and with the apparent loss of my lead on a 200/f2.8), I've now got the option of a 70-210/f3.8 or an 80-250/f3.8, both Tamrons. Anyone got experience/ opinions on these? Hold out for real Canon lenses, or are Tamron okay?

Andrew - All Canon FD lenses will fit an FTb or FTbn, or any F1 model, or all A series and all T series Canon cameras.

**Phobe**: Canon FDn has chenged the 55mm f1.2 to 50mm. I believe you must be referrring to the older S.S.C. FD 55mm f/1.2 or the even older 55mm f/1.2 AL (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/canon/fdresources/fdlenses/50mm.htm#50mmAL); if you are specifically looking for the 55mm f/1.2 S.S.C. breech lock mount, refer to here: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/canon/fdresources/fdlenses/earlyfdlenses/50mmfd.htm I think a two parts has been mis-linked it as 50mm f/1.2 instead of 55mm.

Hello, I've been offered a Nikkor 80-200 F4 AIS zoom lens. I heard that this lens is a legend in the Nikkor family and wonder if that's true. Also, is the image quality really that spectacular compared to the newer zooms? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the front element from the 50mm f1.4 FD lens? There is a bloom on the rear face of the front glass which is now probably reducing the image quality. Or do I have to trust it to a professional. Thanks

Are the FD lenses compatible with the older Canon FTB camera? I looked around on the web but can't find a definitive answer. I was considering getting one for use when I do long exposures. I understand the shutter is mechanical and does not need battery power.
