Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. Hi, I've recently purchased a Vivitar 75-300mm manual zoom lens and I am expericening problems with it with my Nikkormat FT2 camera. It is an Ai-s lens and it was told to me by the company(Vivitar) that it will work with my camera, however I am suspecting it does not. When I looke through the lens it seems as if the depth-of-field preview button is being depressed a little. Whats wrong? Thanks Ryan2. From : TomR (tomrdale@aol.com)

Don Clary - Thanks for your suggestions, Don, but I have Canon nFD 24/2,0 + BW 52 C, and 28/2,8 + BW 52 B, and the B+W TOP POL 52 mm4. From : Don Clary (nvis640@yahoo.com)

Jaume - your problem is the combination of your new lens and your old hood, not the polarizer. For 28mm, your hood is probably Canon BW52B. For 24mm, Canon recommends BW52C. However, I have found that BW52B will work and not vignette on 24mm f2.8. But I have heard that BW52B will vignette on 24mm f2.0.5. From : Lindy (adkinstone@earthlink.net)

Canon made 2 versions of the Nikon Lense mount converter. 1st version is marked "B&H Converter". 2nd one is marked "MC-N". I had both new in their boxes at one time. The "B&H" is better since its tighter. There is more play in the mount of the MC-N. I ebayed the MC-N a couple years ago for $150. Either converter allow for infinity focus! There is no glass to degrade image or change the lens focal length. I use my B&H converter to mount PB-4 tilt and shift Nikon Bellows with various medium format enlarging lenses.Canon FD System users are lucky to have an infinity focusing Nikon Adapter available for their systems. Nikon has some fine old Non Ai glass that can be found for less money than Canon equivilients. Though the apperature is not coupled, the Nikon glass is easily used pretty much the same as FL Canon glass is. Though I cannot speak for A Series bodies. I use F-1. Lindy

To the guy who needs an adapter to use Nikon lenses on an F-1- see cameraquest.com. He will tell you more. This adapter is rare and expensive. To the owner of this great site: I've just acquired a mint FD 28 f3.5. This lens gave way to the f2 and f2.8 in March 1975. Between 1966 and 75, the 3.5 28 was Canon's ONLY 28. There were two FD versions, a chrome filter ring from 1971-73, and an SC coated version from 73 to 75. I'll be happy to send you a photo of this lens. I believe it to be an excellent performer.7.
