The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi all, Just a note about the recurring "EEE" question. I recently took out my T90 for the first time in many months (I've been using a D30). I set TV mode to 4000 just to give it a test. I got one shot, then EEE. MMM! I took the batteries out, put them back in, gave it another go, and EEE. After this happened about 20 times, I tried adjusting the shutter speed down. It got down to 2, then the problem disappeared. It kept firing without the dreaded EEE. I fired it off a number of times, then started increasing the shutter speed again. The problem did not recur. I'd certainly recommend this as a first step if the EEE happens to your T90. Geoff Saunders

Hi Mark, My SPT T90 repair notes explains that you can modify your T90 for film leader out on rewind by bridging 2 lands on the top circuit flex board. If you want to attempt the leader out modification yourself I can send you a jpeg of the 2 lands that must be bridged to accomplish this. You only have to remove the front and top covers to get at the 2 lands. No soldering involved other than the bridging.

Hi Mark - You may find someplace closer, but FYI, there is a Canon service center near me that has told me they will do any of the old factory mods (leader out, PC socket). They are: Horizon Electronics, 3961 Horner St., Union City, CA 94587 Ph (510)489-9091. Union City is in the SF Bay Area, near Fremont. They're good guys and I recommend them. HTH Ken

I have a T90 that I want modified to leave the film leader out on rewind. I'm looking for a reputable repair/dealer to perform this service. I'm in the Southeastern U.S. area, however, I can ship anywhere. Any recommendations? What is the typical cost for this?

My newly acquired 300TL has given some strange pinkish cast photos when used with Astia outdoors. In theory, is there anything in a flash that can throw off the color temp, like capacitor deterioration, wrong battery voltage, etc? Ken

Bill, Please forgive the obvious, but are you sure that the 300TL was properly mounted on the T-90? (Occam may have been right even though he never used T-90). I went through an episode earlier this summer when about midway through the second roll of film, I was getting a "M" manual read out in the viewfinder. I had the option to go to another camera/flash combinition, but when I checked later, I realized I had dislodged the flash shoe from its proper position. What readings did you get whenyou mounted the 300TL on the A-1? Did you try bridging the contacts on the 300TL; if so, what happened? I hope its a minor problem. Let us know what happens. TomR.

I am having a problem with the 300TL flash on my Canon T90. It will not fire while mounted on the camera. It will fire independently and on my A1. So I assumed that the problem was with the T90 rather than the flash. However, I mounted an old Vivitar 283 flash on my T90 today and it fires fine. I realize that the hot shoe configuration is different on the two cameras, but now I am suspecting the flash unit itself again. Any opinions on whether the camera or the flash unit is the culprit? Any ideas on who repairs the 300TL? Please Email me at dearthw@eohio.net if you have any suggestions. Thanks Bill
