The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi I can't get the shutter release to work on my T90. The triangle icon by the frame speed mode just flashes and the right side of the screen in the view finder has a row of dashes and a letter "F" at the bottom. Can you help please as I have read the manual and can not find the answer. Andy2. From : ROBERTO CABRERA (rca47828@cfe.gob.mx)

Alex - I assume (by the phone numbers) you're in the UK. You might be able to get the T3 adapter or 60T3 switch new from your local Jessops or whatever. Failing that check out the second hand ads in Amateur Photographer or look at mxvphotographic.com, ffordes.com for mail order, they pop up pretty regularly (I think the going used price for a 60T3 remote release is in the £20-25 range). Cheers, Mark.4. From : Erasmus B.Black (afticanqueen@hotmail.com)

I have the sense, please help me confirm it, that the T90 is a more prized used camera in the UK than in North America. Evidence: More appear in the used section of Practical Photography photos, Hove book on T90 is a UK publication. And then there seem to be a lot of interested parties on these forums from the UK. If this surmise is accurate, is it a tribute to the keep it until it breaks philosophy versus the trade up every year philosophy over on this side of the pond. Or is this idle folderol? Any thoughts? Prices also seem to be higher reflective of economic value in UK I do believe. It also may reflect the overall higher cost of new equipment with VAT and such...Your obedient servant,E.B.Black5. Grateful thanks to Mark Suller (Posting 43 from 07/09/02)et al for pointing us to John Lowe (jillyandjohn@lineone.net)as a UK-based repairer of the T90. I too had a problem with my T90 shutter refusing to fire after lying for some years unused. I contacted John Lowe within recent weeks and his service was superb, all for a very reasonable charge. He correctly diagnosed the shutter fault (a sticking magnet which needed cleaning)and also suggested a very useful modification which he carried out during the repair to stop the film leader completely rewinding into the canister which has simplified mid-roll film changes.Clearly John is someone who takes great pride in his work and his knowledge of the workings of the T90 appears to be second to none-just a few minutes conversation on the phone with him proved this.I would recommend John Lowe to others who have an "ill T90" without any hesitation-I suspect if John Lowe can`t fix it then no-one can.6. Hey guys,a funny:next time you bid on a T90 on eBay and the advert says Mint in Box -like wow- with picture of a clean box,no flyspecks even, Tony the Fishmonger and part time bookmaker says "Hey Irwin, tell the bozo that Tony found out that T90's take better pictures OUTSIDE the box!. Yuk,yuk. Tony is a class act but scaly an pyoo. Anyway, if the T90 still has the little plastic cover on the remote control and the original boX so how can that be bad,but so big deal. Keep well and don't go digital until Canon comes out with the 3CMOS 10 megapixels and even then, let's Million march for Film Movement. I mean what looks better with a Mini Cooper,a T90 or a Digital Monstrosity my good friends. Be well.7. From : Irwin (bzoo@hotmail.com)

Alex, you are seeking part Remote Switch 60T3 and Canon Release Adapter T3. Both in the EOS catalog. First three hundred bucks takes them, shipping included. I joke,I joke. Buy online. Chump change, just ask Tony Pacciagulopa at the Fish Market, the T90 maven. As always, Uncle Irwin, Purveyor of Kosher Delicacies, pickled herring in sour cream and now prayer hats with holes for devoted pets, be well I.S...8. From : alex Charles (alex.christina@virgin.net)

Well, Irwin, I have seen the Light!. The supplementary manual iyou referred me to effectively clears up the dark area that remained after studying the original one I got with the flash. And remember: cholesterol is essential for proper brain functioning. Thanks for your help, Niels10.
