The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Look for help: oil on shutter curtain and dark band when using flash at 1/250 sec. I just bought T90 in good condition and found it ‘s work properly in nearly all department except in some pictures that taken with flash at highest sync speed (1/250 sec.). The problem is there is a dark (shadow) band at the bottom of the picture, some are narrow (1 mm from edge) and one is quite broad (2-3 mm from edge). Not all pictures have this problem. I inspect its shutter curtain and found (lubricant?) oil on it (it’s not exist when I bought). I think that oil stick a shutter curtain and make it move in slower speed, hence appeared as dark band on a test slide. Would anybody please tell me is this problem come from a serious damaged or just a minor problem that can be fixed easily (i.e. cleaning). I will turn it back if it’s a serious problem, and this must not later than 15 August. Regard, Piyathip

Andy! Have you checked that the stop-down lever is free. I the stop-down lever is locked, and the the camera is set to any auto mode, the LCD display panel will show EEE, and the the shutter will be locked. If you also see the "Help" message in the view finder the camera may need repair, but the error may also be removed by pulling the battery rack out, and then sliding it back again. Good luck J. Andy: In the T90 manual, it states that the shutter can lock up if you push in the stop down lever while the lens is on the "A" mark, and that you'll get the EEE display. Larry

I just purchased a used T90 equipped with commandback 90 in good condition and found everything works well except for flash exposure. The problem is when I use Metz 40 MZ 2 with SCA 311 (design for T90, have it so far for my New F-1) to acquire TTL flash metering, the ambient light metering will be cancelled, hence made fill in flash not possible.

My question is does it possible to acquire fill in flash (either TTL or A-TTL mode) with other flashgun except the 300TL (cannot find one, it’s rare in my country). Does Metz 3000 series with SCA 3101 (EOS module) or newer EZ/EX Speedlites can serve this function? Thanks very much

Sue - I see the strap lugs on eBay every once in a while. You might also try Horizon Electronics in CA - a Canon Service Ctr, where I take my T-90. They are: (510)489-9091, and they do mail order. Ken
