The Canon T-90 System |

Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Does anyone know the differences, if any, between the TTl Hot Shoe Adapter 2, and the TTl Hot Shoe Adapter 3? Thanks for the help. TomR.2. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@internet.look.ca)

Andre, Two years ago I searched high and low for a good T90 repair service in Canada. I could find none. Canon Canada proved to be worse than useless and grossly overcharged for work that wasn't done while exhibiting ignorance and indifference at every step. I did find a company in the U.S.A. that was fast, inexpensive and reliable. Their charge, including exchange, was less than half of what Canon Canada charged. The company is MORGANTOWN CAMERA AND VIDEO REPAIR, 99 Holland Ave., Westover, West Virginia 26501. 800-564-9284 and 304-291-3522 www.mcvr.com Their warranty is 6 months. My camera has been subject to relatively heavy use since they repaired it and has never let me down. If you wish to phone me I am at 416-491-94293. From : TomR (tomrdale@aol.com)

Andre, There are several shooters from Toronto on the Pop Photo message boards at http://www.popphoto.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi Check in with them to see if you can get some help there, probably in the Gear Guide forum. I can't recall whether there were shooters from Montreal. Let us know what you find. Someone else may find it helpful. TomR.4. From : Terry Taylor (taylort111kph@yahoo.com)

This is for John, in reference to T90 diopter eyecups. The diopter lense is removed by breaking it and pulling all of the pieces out (it is glued in). The diopter eyecup is slightly "thicker", it sticks out from the camera body about 2 or 3mm more than the standard eyecup.5. From : Andre from Montreal (andre.tkd@sympatico.ca)

Hello, does anyone knows a GOOD repair centre for mt T90 in Canada? Toronto or even better in Montreal?? Is it really worth to send my camera in the United States and then pay the exchange rate which is close to 60% more from Canadian money? Thanks for anyone with answer to this message André from Montreal6. From : Jon Denham (jmden@fidalgo.net)

Does anyone know if the lense in a "corrected" (+ or - # diopter) T90 eyepiece can be taken out to produce a "normal" eyepiece? Thank you.7. From : grant (gpa@clara.co.uk)

Hi
Just got a T 90. It worked the first time I tested it after turning it on, then suddenly it started flashing "EEE" on the LCD screen and the viewfinder says "help"! When I pressed the battery check- the shutter works like a motor drive (off course I wonder why the battery check releases the shutter?).
Any ideas - the manual only talks about 7 "E's" on the screen not 3 E's

Dear Mats. Using studio flash with the T90 is not a problem. Set the shutter speed to 1/90 (that is what the book recommends, and it is as good as any speed). Some older studio flash firing circuits operated with a high voltage and so I caution you to test it with a digital voltmeter if you can. If you don't want to bother, then I suggest you connect the studio setup with a safe synch made by Wein or use a cord by Paramount that has a voltage regulator (keeps the high voltage down to the 6 volts DC that the T90 firing circuit was designed for electronically. Or, just fire the studio lights with your speedlite and an optical slave. Set the Speedlite to Manual Low and aim it straight up. You use manual to avoid the IR preflash triggering the strobes prematurely. I hope this is clear. I must also comment about the everincreasing and dubious monetary value placed on the "original" eyecup for the T90. Mine, like most users came without one. So I use a US$18.00 EOS 1N eyecup. Works just great. As for the original in the diopter form, a friend saw one just a while ago for US $30.00 in a Los Angeles photo store, brand new,but chose wisely to buy the EOS model. She is happy as a hog or Hogg. I offer this latter advice to T90 users as a community service and hope it answers all the cupless amongst you. Yours respecfully, Ima10.
