The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I had the same problem few months ago and I was told that this was the degrading internal light seal of the shutter leaking. A shutter service cured the problem and mine is as good as new now.

Mark,

Like any modern camera, a T90 should be serviced by a professional. I wouldn't advice a DIY fix. I was fortunate enough to find a ex Canon T90 technician (often advertise him self on ebay)who repaird and serviced my two T90s for very reasonable price (UK). He has also serviced a F1 and a AE1 Programme for very reasonable price for me. You could contact him on 0107wood@tiscali.co.uk (Paul). I will email you a service manual(PDF).

Good luck

Antony

I have a scan copy of the repair manual, I will send it to you shortly. It is fairly clear, but not as clear as the originial.

Hello everyone, I've just acquired a T90 second-hand here in France (my daughter expressed and interest in B&W photography and this stirred my old interests!) and the camera works just fine except for one little glitch - the shutter does not fire...

I've read several posts about this which include suggestions of GBH (well, light whacking with a hammer at least) but would rather leave that to the last resort. One issue is that here in France there does not seem to be anybody that is capable / willing to fix "such an old camera" - huh, it's only what, 25??
I also tried to get to canonfd.com but the site is no longer available.
First question: Anyone got a non-violent way to fix the problem? Second question: Anyone got a copy of the repair manual that they would be willing to scan / send?

Here's hoping thre's some silver lining out there. Cheers Mark

Bill, Simply slide the eyecup upwards. It rests in grooves on each side of the eye piece.
