The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi there,
Thanks Irwin and others pointing me to the US 300TL manual.
I have read the original 300TL manual many times, but I have never found out that the 300TL with the camera in other than the P mode is for fill-in flash only. The US manual fixed that :-)

Miguel, like Mickey I dont bother with the eveready case and I recall the T90 one was not a great item what I read about it. You dont see professionals with these things and not much here. Know why? Because there is no case that will take a T90 whith a 200mm lens mounted. So Im guessing you are talking the so called standard lens, the 50mm. There are a couple companies that will sell you a protective cover that fits pretty well, not perfect, as it hangs around your neck as you bounce down the pier to the Carnaval Cruise ship. I myself likes neoprene. It is comfy, padded, water resistant, comes in colors that match my jackets (maroon, blue) and don't cost an arm and a leg. Do a search for Tiffen/Saunders do com and look at the Zing line. These one size fits all cases are kind of tight,so get a big size. Then ther is some "leder something" outfit that will make you a case to match the upholstery in your BMW and wreck your budget. The focus screen I have seen on eBay and go fast. Try also the camera repair outfits, might be worth dealing with them and letting them check and test the camera too. Canon USA may have them in parts department. They did a couple years ago if you talk real nice on the phone. Good luck, be well. As always, Irwin

Miguel, I don't believe Canon made an eveready, hard leather case for the T90. You will find that most users prefer no case at all.
As for the focussing screen, Miguel. If your vision is reasonably good you should have no trouble getting accustomed to the screen you have. Canon calls it the 'D' screen. It is so bright that exact focus is easily apparent. However,Canon made seven screens for the T90. The standard screen that came with the camera was the 'E'. It has a split image indicator and a microprism lens which may be what you want. Each screen comes packaged as a kit with a tool for instalation and removal.
Where to get one?? Try your local camera stores. Try E Bay. Follow any leads this site provides by going back through the archives. Keep trying. eventualy you may get lucky.. Best wishes.

did anyone make a leather carrying case for the t90 with a lense on it. i have seen the one made by canon but it seems like it is only for the body. i just bought a t90 on ebay in great shapoe and can not wait to begin shooting with it. it brought a focusing sreen that is four lines in the vertical and three lines in the horizontal with the circle in the middle if the screen. i am having a hard time focusing with this as it is not like the split screen in my a-1 which becomes whole and indicates when you are focused. is the screen i presently have in the t90 capable of working like this or do i need another one? thanks for any info. this is a great board for info.

Gunar and Tsakas, see Erasmus comment below and then go to the link following: http://www.canonfd.com/300ref/300ref.htm. This is the 15 page English languague version called the 300TL Reference Guide, courtesy of a Belgian mensch named Christian Rollinger. It will explain that you are not crazy when you see meshugge (unintuitive ) stuff in the viewfinder. Trust Irwin. After you have read the online guide, let us know if the readouts make a little more sense. Or if they don't. Glad to be of help. Good luck and shalom. Gunar:

I have the same problem. I have beel searching the archive for hours, but did not get cleverer.

THe most close match of our question is in the http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/messageboard/canont90msg/index.php3?show=90
question 100, and there is an answer for it in 98.

What I can't understand, why does my t90 want to take 10" in A-TTL mode the white wall half a meter in front of me, at f 5.6???

What if I want to take a picture exactly with f5.6 from hand (so max 1/30 sec)?
P makes it almos good, but I have no effect on apperture, FEL, and A-TTL does want to make the picture is if there were no flash mounted.

Can I take no pictures from hand in a dark room in A-TTL or FEL?
