The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Mugshot, if you're still there.
BE VERY CAREFUL! Some studio strobes have extremely high voltage triggers, and this WILL fry the t90. I know. I killed one t90 with an old sunpak flash that has a trigger voltage of over 200 volts. The best options are to use a protected hotshoe adapter (i.e. wein "safe sync" type of device - I built one myself) or to use some sort of slave trigger (e.g. ebay radio triggers, pocketwizards, or optical slaves). Most Canon cameras (TTL flash and onwards) will only stand trigger voltages of about 6v, while most studio stobes and old non-dedicated flash units trigger with 200-330v.
Hope you don't damage anything, but have fun!

Can someone suggest where I can repair in NYC the circuit in the Canon T-90 (3rd time, so sad). Canon should be ashamed and compensate their customers.
Thanks so much3. From : adrian mctiernan (a.mctiernan@ntlworld.com)

To download an Acrobat pdf instruction manual for the Canon T90, one is available from here www.canonfd.com/t90manual/CanonT90.pdf
You can download and then save it if you would like.
However, the pictures on it are not quite so clear as the one kindly prepared on this site. I suppose though, it is easier to download in one go. It is the official manual which came with the T90 camera.

Just had my 2no. T90's repaired and serviced by John Lowe
email lowej7@sky.com
One had 'eee' 'help' error and the other had 'clicking and no shutter activation/flashing arrow'.
John repaired them, replaced a cracked viewfinder and put in a new internal battery. The whole process and communication was excellent.
Now I can use my collection of FD lenses including 55mm f1.2 SSC Aspherical.5. From : MIKE (CHARTER.CAY@AOL.COM)

I've been a Canon FD user for many years, I bought a T 90 yesterday as an addition to my system, since I see it has no flash sync. socket and I want to use it with my studio flash system, do you think it safe to use a hot shoe to cable adaptor( not Canon) in the flash shoe without frying the cameras electronics.
I would be very interested to hear what other users do in these circumstances, you're views would be much appreciated .7. From : Patrick Casey (pcasey@jccc.edu)

Where...inside the T-90, is the "memory back up" battery located at? Can it be changed easily, or does the camera need to be disassembled (ideally, by a qualified repair person) just to change the lithium memory back up battery??? Thank You.8. From : DT (dontspamme@genius.com)

Cannon T90 EEE syndrome- I thought I had lost mine forever after I hadn't used it in over a year. BUT if you change the setting to bulb and test the shutter, it has forced my shutter open and now works on all settings. hope this helps anyone out there with a beloved T90!9. A month ago someone here in Holland offered a brand new looking T90 (# 121XXXX) for free since its shutter got stuck, acc to LCD screen all functions seemed in good shape.
I opened the top of the camera to look for the battery, but all I found was a condensor (I assume..) placed instead.
Three weeks ago I bought a good but quite worn-out T90 (# 114XXXX) which had its shutter replaced some 8 years ago. So I had a nice looking spare parts model and an ugly one but still in good shape....until I read here about the use of heavy tools to fix electronic devices... so I hit the body firmly several times on the tripod screwmount with the back of the handle of a hammer(not the head!) while pushing the shutter...and..it came back to life again!!! katchang katchang katchang..like a steam
locomotive wakin'up after many years of hibernating!
Now I am a happy owner of 2 T90's and I have to learn about its special features, since I used a Zorki 4 and A1 & AE1 analog cameras and the very reliable Nikon D70s digital SLR.
Greetings,
Rene

Wonder if we could have a round-up of E6 slide film processors in the UK that anyone recommends here? Yesterday I noticed that my developer of choice for some time, Fujilab.co.uk, have closed down (more accurately, handed over their business to cewe-photobook...) - unfortunately, looking at the cewe website they do not appear to offer Fuji film sales or E6 processing so am struggling to understand what actual business was handed over to them by Fujilab! Am starting to worry that E^ processing is getting harder to find and more expensive...
