The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

T90 battery holder, Francis Wong, eM, Freddy Tye: I'm just repeating an old post (May 27,2001), that I copied, that has now scrolled off:
Crystal Camera Repair, 404 N Louisiana Street, Ashville, NC 28806, USA. Telephone (828) 255-8101. New battery magazine was $22. They had several then; hope they still do now. If you manage to buy one, and they still have more, report back on this board, to help others.

If you have a T90 sitting in the attic because it has the dreaded EEE shutter problem I recommend you contact John Lowe at jillyandjohn@lineone.net. I read a few recommendations on this board so I gave him a go and I must say I am very pleased I did. Not only has the shutter problem gone but the camera looks and feels as good as the day I bought it. Prior to sending the camera I spoke to John and he gave me great confidence with his knowledge of the T90, you sense he is very proud of his work and this shows in the quality of the service the camera received. I would not hesitate to use him again if another of my cameras had a problem.

Hello Fellow T90 fans. Got my first paid wedding next month and will be using my T90s and mostly prime FD lens. Got a loose lens mount on one and will have to put it in the shop after the wedding to get it tightened. Could use more flash power. Has anyone used the Sunpak 522, or 544? Cannot afford Metz or the new Canon flashs.

Using the Canon EOS to FD lens adapter is no problem at all with wide angle lenses as Canon does not make a lens shorter then 200mm the you can even get this adapter on it was made specifically for those beautiful white lenses none of us can afford 300mm to 800mm. The price Henry's is asking is rediculous even though someone will pay it. The adapter was a stop gap measure for working Pros especially sports guys to help ease them into the EOS line with out causing them to have to buy 6,000.00 lenses just to use their new EOS body at work. If you have an EOS body and can't afford the spendy new telephotos then this is a short cut but it comes with some heavy dues LIKE STOP DOWN metering on a EOS!!! there is no info mechanical or electronic between the lens and the body with this adapter.
Hope this is helpful. LONG LIVE CANON FD

Mark W.

To Anthony Dunne (and anyone else interested)
I just saw a FD to EOS converter on Ebay listed by McHenry's Camera:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1378444424

Apparently it has a lens in it to get around the infinity focus problem, but it gives it a 1.26X focal length factor. So if you're thinking about using your manual focus lens on a new D30 or D60, that would make them (1.26 x 1.6)x longer than the stated focal length. Great for telephoto, not so great for wide angle.

I am wondering if the T90 FD lenses have an adapter to use with the new Eos digital backs. Anyone tried this?

Paula, I have searched high and low for a Canon FDn 24mm/1.4 lens and could not find one wth the "n" designation.
There is the old FD 24mm/f1.4 S.S.C. which is the breach lock model. The new Fd mount is New FD 24mm/ f1.4L.
Both of these lenses will fit and operate properly on the T90. Have you tried your lens on the T90? If it fits and works as it should I can't see that there is any problem.
