The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Don't waste your money on eBay for the 300TL reference guide. It's available FREE on the eGroups/Yahoo website.

Cris - go to this Ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1251592860 , ending Saturday morning, July 7, and buy this reference manual. It will contain more useful information on the 300TL than ALL other publications combined!3. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@internet.look.ca)

Syd,
Scroll down near the bottom of this page. Click on page 2 and see item No. 20 (for now). It sounds like a miracle cure for this frequently recurring problem. Please post your results.4. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@internet.look.ca)

Cris,
Try www.canonfd.com/300ind.htm for the instruction manual for your 300TL. Then try to get hold of "Canon's Reference Guide for The 300TL Speedlite" published by the Canon U.S.A. Technical Department to help you to translate the manual. Good Luck5. From : Syd (Syd@croft144.freeserve.co.uk)

The dreaded word HELP has appeared in the viewfinder of my T90. This has happened from one photograph to the next, without any knock or jolt to the camera. At first I was devastated because I have only had the camera for 5 weeks, during which time it has been handled with kid gloves. However, following the instructions in the Manual, I pressed the battery check button and ‘Hey Presto’ the display was reset, and the world seemed a wonderful place again.
Unfortunately, when I took the next photograph, everything appeared to be in order in terms of shutter, and wind-on noises, but HELP appeared in the viewfinder again. This time I tried all the recommendations I could see listed in the Manual, battery check, battery chamber out and replaced, stop-down lever pushed in and out, the lens aperture moved away from A and returned, all to no avail. The display resets, no problem, the camera apparently takes a photograph, no problem, but back comes the dreaded word HELP every time.
Is this a recognised problem with the T90, and is there any cure apart from taking it to a repairer?

I have acquired a Canon speedlight 300tl for my T90.
I am somewhat clueless as to the general operation of the speedlight and how it interfaces with my T90.
Can anyone referr me to a site where I can get information concerning the features/operation of this flash?
Thanks!7. From : John L (jl@4duncalf.freeserve.co.uk)

Canon FD lenses default to the smallest aperture (biggest f-number) when on A. The body may alter this in some cases.
A quick rule of thumb for fireworks is to set the aperture to the square root of the film speed. For ASA 100 an aperture setting of f 9.5 or even f11 will be quite close. Hopefully the lens in this case had an minimum aperture of f16 & ASA 400 film was used...
Cheers,

To Irving Schmendrick: Dear Irving, thank you for your amusing diatribe. I'm basically OK with the Yiddish, but I'll check with my wonderful Jewish brother-in-law to make sure I haven't missed any nuances.
Contrary to what you (and Erasmus) seem to have thought, I'm not looking for the "cheapest" camera which I can use for good macro work. I was genuinely curious as to why three cameras so different in age and specifications as the F-1, the T-90 and the A-2 should all be approximately the same price on the used market.
